Hi,

As many companies, we have an internet link wich is overloaded.

The main traffic on this link is 'unprofessional'.

We've decided to install a new high speed adsl link. This link will be used for the unprofessional usage only.

Does it exist a solution (router, proxy) wich will be able to 'categorize' the traffic (from destination, from url ..) in order to send the request to the 'professional' or to the 'unprofessional' access ?

Many thanks for your answers.
Regards.

There are many, many ways to do this. If you are using a Cisco Router then route-mapping will solve your problem. The trick is that this will only resolve the issue for outgoing traffic.

For management of incoming traffic over multiple interfaces you will need to implement BGP routing protocols, which may be more involved than you want to get, especially if you have only a small IP netblock.

If you want an out-of-the-box solution look at some of the load balancing products out on the market. The Allot NetEnforcer should do a great deal of good for you. In fact, the Net-Enforcer may remove the need for your second connection. With that device you could implement quality of service (QoS) and give your "professional" traffic a higher priority, allowing "non-professional" only when bandwidth is not being used by higher priority services. Let me know off-list if you want a referral to a good contact.
