When testing Pervasive (8.60.192.30)I get this error. Windows 7 pro 32BIT.

Does the error occur in anything but the Pervasive System Analyzer? If not, it's probably something specific to PSA and shouldn't be a problem.

If you are getting an error, post the error from the app.

You also have to realize that the PSQL v8.6 wasn't supported / tested on Windows 7 and is unsupported. You should upgrade to PSQL v11 (the current version) for full Windows 7 support.

The app is AMSI. and the error when executing it is BTrieve error # 20. 20-BTRIEVE not started. Run SYSALT. Operation code = 20

Is AMSI a DOS, Wiin16, or Win32 application?
The status 20 is either an old component (WBTRCALL.DLL or W3BTRV7.DLL most likely), missing component, or the engine isn't running.

Can you open WBEXEC32.EXE (Pervasive Function Executor) and open an AMSI data file? Does it return the error 20?

I saw that the C:\PVSW\BIN directory is not in the system path. Add it so that applications can find the Pervasive engine and components.

It is DOS. I tried pervasive 10 which opend AMSI and seemed to work, but I don't have a KEY since it came with Timbeline and auto installs. I thinik I may just install XP Pro on this machine.

It's DOS? What's in the CONFIG.NT file? Do you have any reference to Pervasive in those files? You should have something like DEVICE=C:\Windows\system32\btrdrvr.sys in the CONFIG.NT.
Without that, DOS apps still need either BREQNT.EXE, BREQUEST.EXE, or BTRIEVE.EXE to work.
