I have a Merlin Legend R7 with an 007MLM and ext 11 every morning when the customer comes in has his message waiting light turned on. When he checks it there is no message. I do remember a problem with lights not functioning properly, but the customer says this happens every morning. Any ideas?

How are they extinguishing this led?

11 Could be the message receiver for a calling group, or it could be the General Mailbox owner.

Either of those conditions would cause the light to come on.

Of course, that means there's a mail box somewhere that's not getting taken care of.

One other possibility is, if the system is a late enough release, an extension could be designated as the one that lights when a fax is received.

The best way to tell where it's coming from is (at the phone with the light) press MENU, Messages and that will indicate where it came from.

They clear the light by pressing the message button near the top at the display and pressing delete all. This may not be the exact steps but I know they don't extinguish it by deleting any messages. I wasn't aware that you could tell where the message came from. So if I press MENU and then MESSAGES, it should tell me where the message originated? Thanks for the info.

Merlinman, here is what the customer is saying about his light on ext 11. Randy:

Again, this is not a big issue for me, but I thought I would tell you what I’ve noticed on the fake voice mail message I get every day.

I did like you suggested and tried to see where it’s coming from each time. Everyone says: *UMS Ext 770 3:01a.m. I thought it was interesting that so far this week, it has been at the same time.

Any idea what could be sending something from the 007MLM to turn the light on every night with no message. I did check to make sure that the default general mailbox operator was set to ext 10. Also, the password for the VM I was talking to you about, the vm died so I ordered another one. Thanks

An 007MLM can have multiple Auto Attendants, and 11 could be the receiver for AA2 or 3. I would check mailbox 9992 and 9993 to see if perhaps there is a message there, which is lighting 11.

I will check that. This website is great. Thanks TTT.
