007 MLM - IntegVMI wont select 1

Hi guys,

I have a question, I figured if I ever get this working I would hate for it to crash so I put the new factory defaulted 007MLM harddrive in.

Now to my question... As you may remember our family biz has a really old Merlin Legend system that has worked great for about 10 years. I put a 007/MLM card with new defaulted harddrive in and I am lost.
The manual is giving me headaches, I can't seem to get to the password prompt for VM. What do I need to do?

I didnt know if seting up the IntegVMI is the key, but when I try to do it I just get a beep saying I cant. I am trying through the main MLX20L becuase I dont have the software for laptop... Any ideas?

Ok, second question here...

If the integVMI is not relevant, I have tried to go into ext#770 and it just ring/beeps. Everything says INTERCOMM 770, but I dont have an intercomm button... I tried HFAI 770 but same ring/beep.

It would be almost funny if it hadn't taken me a month to get this far... hahaha...Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you need some basic setup help. Did your old Legend have a voicemail system before? Did you do a board renumber after you installed thge 007 MLM? If not - please do s0: Menu, stsrem programming, exit, system, board renumber.

The basic setup steps to even access voicemail are as follows: Set up a voicemail calling group (usually 770). To do so: press menu, system programming, exit, extentions, more, grp calling, members - 770 enter, now enter the port extentions of the 007 and press enter after each. Press exit, hunt type, 770 enter, linear enter. Press more, group type, 770 enter, integ VMI, enter.

Now when you press the bottommost left key and hear internal dialtone, dial 770 - the voicemail should answer and request a mailbox number - key in 9997#, when prompted for the password, key in just # - and you will be prompted to create a new 6-digit or more password. Press 9 and when prompted for a password, enter just # - again you will be asked to create a 6-digit or more password. You will then hear various options you can program: system parameters, schedule, autoattendants, mailboxes, etc.

Josh - fyi - that "beep" is telling you the Merlin doesn't see the voice mail ports. With regard to manuals, my fav is the feature reference you can download from Avaya - keep it on your desktop and query the index as necessary. It does a pretty good job of listing feature interactions and programming steps, both for MLX20 and Win SPM.
Also, when you are programming via the MLX20 you lose the print function that allows you to see stuff on the screen - I have found that if you go into programming, then system renumber, then choose what you want to renumber (for example, calling groups if you are working on vm) and do an inspect you can see what your working options are...helps me a lot.

When I renumber, how do I know what the "old" extension number is for the voicemail?

You can either count the ports from the processor - or try dialing what you think the extention number is and see if that port on the voicemail answers.

Does this help? My MLM is slot 4 board 012. How do I know the port from this? Or do I look somewhere else?

Go to Maintaince > Port > Station

Now dial *0401 (for Slot 04, Port 01)

Enter > Status

Now you know the Extension Number of the 1st VM port. Press Next and you will get the next number; continue until you have all 4 VM extensions.


You can also use this "slot/port" code in place of the extension number when programming, whenever it asks for an extension number, dial * and then 2 digits for the slot, 2 digits for the port. You can also dial # and the "Logical ID" for the port, but that's another post.

It should be extentions 26, 27, 28, and 29 assuming your extention numbering starts at ext 10.

Ok, through station/status it tells me that it is 6886, 6887 then shows 28 & 29.

I then followed the steps in the first post for basic setup and now it lets me choose the Integ VMI, but after this when I try to dial 770 I am still getting a ring/beep and if I dial the ext 6886, 6887, 28 or 29 I am getting a busy signal.

One simple question. After you installed the 007MLM, did you do a "board renumber"? - so that the added module could be recognized by the system. If not, press menu, system prog, exit, system, board renumber - and say yes to continue. The system will restart. Then try dialing into voicemail again - both 770 and each individual port.

Give the voicemail at least 5 minutes to fully restart - and make sure each voicemail port has a green light on by the port (VM1, VM2, VM3 and VM4).

Yes, I board renumbered.

The gren LEDs are on next to VM 1,2,3 & 4.

Even after this the 770 still goes ring/beep and the actual extensions still are busy. I will give this another shot in the morning.

One last thought - the two TTR's in the Legend Mail may be defective - however without a tip ring module like an 012 or an 016 - you have no effective way to test them.

Ok... It kept showing busy, so I reset the port and now it doesnt show busy... I dialed 770 and it did the merlin mail welcome.
