Just a note, I ocnfigured as such (where allowed/pruning is concerned):
interface gix/y
switchport trunk allowed vlan 1
>> Then I added
switchport trunk pruning vlan 2-1001
I believe when you use the "allowed" statement, all other VLANS not "allowed" are pruned. The pruning statement...
The connected ports in a default configuration should auto-connect at the best speed/duplex. The out of the box configuration doesn't prohibit that as far as I know (I've done that before). So -- there must be some configuration item set statically on the switch you are connecting the new switch...
I've tried all our suggestions and then some, yet the 3560 still displays the error message "%SPANTREE-7-RECV_1Q_NON_TRUNK: Received 802.1Q BPDU on non trunk GigabitEthernet0/1 VLAN1". Taken at face value this means that all the changes and corrections to the 4006 switch configuration did not...
So -- more from the front lines -- Here is the latest news.

You said, "... regardless of what the show commands might be telling me." How would I know the state if they don't show me?
I thought that the trunk mode showing 'off' on the 3560 - meant that it would not form or be a trunk. "Status" does say not-trunking, or is it?
Cat3560# show interfaces...
I found one thread on this site concerning this. It is at http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=473215.
I could simply turn trunking on, but I want to discover why this is happening when as far as the IOS shows - both ends are not trunking. The new Cat3560 is seeing tagged BPDUs and then...
Have you thought about having the modem do a dial-back connection. If your remote user always calls from a specific number, it is possible to make the calling modem (remote user), and receiving modem (the accessible system) co-ordinate a remote call back. The remote user dials up the system...
I have many Lantronix 8 port terminal servers which link dumb terminals to an IP host, connect printers to the ethernet, and other serial devices.
I have a problem when a user of a dumb terminal thinks they will solve some wait problem by turning off the terminal and turning it back on again...
I think that actually has worked in the past for me. I used to have Wme at home... hmmm....

He will be reinstalling the VPN Client on an...

He could name a workgroup the same as the domain, create a user of the same username as his valid ID, and try that, but are you saying that would...
Hi,

I have a user who has WindowsME and broadband. I have set him up to connect to my corporate VPN Server, which works great. He can connect, ping stuff, etc... but...
