    Hourly Schedules

I think if you setup a user initiated backup in scheduled task or cron to run every hour it will work. That is one thing that would be nice if NBU had the option to do minutes also since in your case the next backup will only run after one hour of the completion of the last backup in the policy.

    bpbkar32.exe process after backup completes

Is that all it does? From the logs that is all it looks like it does but the Windows team is claiming the process is using a majority of the processor. Thanks.

    ADIC SDLC TLM setup problems

Can you display the barcode rule and a media ID you use? I have about five barcode rules running since I use different media for different environments and different labels for different backup types at our site. What errors do you receive when you attempt to label a tape now that the media is...

    ADIC SDLC TLM setup problems

The media type must match the drive type. A HCART2 drives will not mount HCART media, that I aware of. I would setup a barcode rule to define the tapes as HCART2. After you setup the barcode rule delete the media and re-inventory the robot. They should come back as HCART2 if the barcode rule is...

    ADIC SDLC TLM setup problems

What volume pool did the media go into after being added to the robot? What do you have the drive type set to (HCART or HCART2)? What is the media type (HCART or HCART2)?

    Indefinate Differential backups

It is possible, but a restore could take forever. I would suggest doing sythetic fulls to void ever having to do fulls on it again.

Differences between multiplexing and multiple date stream methods

You are correct about both. A single server that has a C:\, D:\, and F:\ drive and has multiple data streams enabled will have a job kick off for each drive. So in the job monitor you will see three backups for that single client but the file list will be different in the job details. Multi...

    NBU Catalog Sizing

I let them know what could happen if it filled up, they wanted me to "clean it up". Got to love the politics. It is a solaris master currently it has 100GB and we are approaching 92-94GB used. We do not have any infinite retention however I convinced them to purchase NBU Vault option since...

    NBU Catalog Sizing

I have to justify why I think the NBU catalog needs to be moved to a larger LUN and I attempted the calculation Veritas provides and it is way off. Anyone know of any good ones to use or did I possible miss something? Veritas capacity planning: Size of full= ###GB * backup_jobs_per_month *...

Differences between multiplexing and multiple date stream methods

Multiple data stream is sending multiple streams from a single client. Say you have a C:\, D:\, and E:\ drive on a server it will create a backup job for each drive. If one stream fails the other streams will continue. This can speed up backups if done correctly. Multiplexing is configured in...

Eject script for more media then CAP can hold

I have a robot with 20 CAP slots and have a script to eject all the media that was used the previous night. My dilemma is if I have more then 20 tapes I have to manually hit enter once I take the 20 out of the CAP. I've always had vault at other locations so this had never been an issue. I’m...
