I agree with amir1......by far the best and easiest way for you to do this is to backup and restore. If you won't have any connectivity between the two servers then using DTS is more of a headache then it is worth.

We only use ADO to hit our SQL server......no ODBC. We distribute and use Crystal 7 dll's with our product but we develop in Crystal 8 and 8.5. Out MDAC versioin is 2.61. On SQL 2000. I did not think to try the tried and true reboot.....will do. Thanks again.
timscronin,
You and I were on the same page. I figured it to be a Crystal problem and not an SQL problem. I did as you advised and my users are able to select from the specified tables without any problems. So, by problem lies with what Crystal needs...big surprise. I have put this same post...
Does anybody know of a way to verify multiple reports against one MSSQL dataset? I have downloaded and tried the update70.exe from the crystal decisions website but it won't work....I just get an hour glass that never goes away and my program stops responding. Any help anyone could provide...
Maybe I am misunderstanding your problem...but as I understand it, vincer is correct. Suppose your database name is Test. If you click on Database | Set Location you will see a list of the data tables used on the report. If you select each table is should appear at the bottom of the window...
I have already tried that.....I added the user to the db_datareader and also to the db_datawriter role with no luck. Any other thoughts? Thanks for your response.
This will sound crazy....it did to me when I heard it. I had the exact same problem you are encountering. I tried to fdisk the machine and reinstall Windows and then try again....no luck...still got the same errors. I found a post on some web page I have since forgotten about that basically...
I have a number of reports accessing a Microsoft SQL Server database. I have created user logins on the SQL Server and given them access to the necessary database. My report designers use these logins.....however, when they try to add a table to an already existing report they can't see all of...

I have a backup file that was created on an SQL 2000 Professional version server and I tried to restore this backup to an SQL 7 server and got the following error message: Error 3169: The backed up database has on-disk structure version 539. The server supports version 515 and connot restore...
I have an app that only installs a couple of Crytal dll files. I need the ability to export a report from the Crystal Preview window to an Excel file format. From the runtime.hlp file I determined which dll I needed for the Excel format.....u2fxls.dll. I copy that file to my Winnt/Crystal...
How much Ram is on the box? The first thing I would do is to increase your Ram and then manually set the amount of RAM that the SQL Server can use instead of leaving it as dynamic usage. The best thing we ever did in our office was to create a small little machine with a slow processor but...
Please don't laugh at me, but does anyone know if SQL Server will play well on a Token Ring network topology? We have a client living in the dark ages that refuses to upgrade their network and wants to run our software product over a token ring backbone. Any suggestions (other than upgrading...
Yes, I disabled IISAdmin because IIS is no longer needed on this server but something else is trying to run the admin and I can't find out what it is.....I am not familiar enough with DCOM to know where to begin to look.
no-oneimportant....thanks for your reply.
I have a file server running NT 4.0 Server that is giving the following error every 5 minutes....I have searched high and low for the culprit but cannot find anything....anybody have any ideas?
DCOM got error "The specified service is disabled and cannot be started. " attempting to...
I have an app that is returning error of "SELECT permission denied on object '***', database '***', owner 'dbo'". The only way for me to get around this that I have found is to make the database login have the database access role of db Owner true....I would prefer not to do this, but...
I was able to figure out how to use Paragraph formatting so I can view an HTML datafield on a report without all of the tags....however, I cannot determine how or if I can change the font of the text. I have read multiple archived posts regarding this issue, and wonder if anyone has figured out...
