Can we just have Novell Login.

Hey, I honestly wasn't aware it was even possible to get completely rid of the w2k login. There has to be some type of windows login process whether it's a network domain account or a local account simply because w2k uses this for setting your security privedges. But then again I don't know...

WIN 98 HOW DO U TELL WINDOWS TO USE NORMAL PRINTER DRIVER

Windows is installing the ECP driver because in your computers CMOS settings have the printer port set to ECP mode. When you first turn it on look for a message saying hit DEL to enter setup. The key you hit the the term used for "setup" varies depending on your computer, but you...

    WHAT - MEMORY AGAIN????

Huck, as long as your processor uses a 100mhz bus and doesn't require 133mhz most mboards will allow you to mix. The only hitches I've seen are when one chip is an ECC memory correcting chip and the other one is Non-ECC, and on a few boards I've run into the PC100 chip chip had to be in the...

hp 9110i cd writer can't burn at 8x

I don't know if you already did this or not, but there's a patch on roxio's website to update Easy CD for Windows XP. Also be sure the blanks you're using are not cheap ones and are certified as 8x or higher if you're getting bad burns. Other than that I'm at a loss. Good Luck.

2 cd-rom with only one able to play audio cds

For the music audio on the second drive, first look on the sound card and see what the name of the connector you're using is, such as CD Audio, Auxillary..etc. Double click the speaker icon on the task bar that's by the clock and you'll get to see the volume levels of all the different sound...

    PCI Graphics or Onboard AGP?

AGP might be a faster speed than PCI bus, however the memory on the onboard AGP systems is slow as anything. If you get a half-decent PCI card like a Gforce or even a TNT2-Ultra your system will be faster. Trust me, I've seen the difference.

    Cannot Maintain System Resources

Get rid of all the "accelerator" tweak programs except for download accelerator. Going too nuts on that kind of crapware is never a good thing. And I don't think anyone mentioned it in a reply yet, but you could have 512 RAM but if your free hard disk space is low you'll still have...

    Re-installing Windows 95

Try renaming the win.com file on the hard drive to something else and then run the setup. Of course if you're that low on disk space I guess anything is possible.

Hdd only works in real mode after usb hadware installation W98Se

I would boot in safe mode, disable your antivirus software if you have it, and remove everything from device manager except the plugNpray bios under sytem devices(sometimes listed as ACPI BIOS depending on mainboard). You might have some ghost devices causing problems or system drivers might...

    A7A(266) M/B doesn't see all hdd's

Sounds like you don't have your jumpers done right on some of the hard drives. Some hard drives have seperate settings for when the drive is by itself on a ribbon(single) and a master setting when it's the primary drive and you have a second drive on the same cable. Obviously the second...

    Phat FAT Problems

This is strange. ONLY on HP Vectra VL6 Series7 PCs our clients recently started having problems where the computer can't boot anymore and it's because somehow the primary partition went from FAT32 to FAT16 on it's own, with a secondary partition staying FAT32. In some cases the primary...

    HP Vectra Memory Issues

At my work we use the HP Vectra series of PC's for our clients. Because of low budgets old PC's tend to hang around on the network longer than they should, so we have a lot of the VL5 (original Pentium) series still floating around. I'm looking for anyone who might have concrete info regarding...
