    Thanks Comtech: Yes, my isp requires a proxy to access non-local sites. DNS was set up fine. Anyway, i found that the problem came about in LinuxConf, under PPP/SLIP tab, i deleted the ppp0 entry. When i readded a ppp0 entry and reconnected, everything works fine. Is that a *required* setting?
