Thanks once again Ken (and Tony) I like to have as much info as possible in order to expand my knowledge.
I've found that the array formula only works with actual numbers (i.e. not cells that contain a SUM) but I'm o.k. with that.
By the way I'm a she not a he!

Ah I'd forgotten about increased budget balance! Thanks Ken. Would you please explain the formula as I'm not used to arrays (the cells in question are now in row 5 just so's I don't get confused)
(:I Leco
I knew it would be something simple.
Thanks to both for your help.
I get #NUM errors using the LARGE function but thanks anyway, I'll no doubt find a use for that in another workbook.
I've used Tony's second formula, which works a treat, as it is likely that I will have empty cells.
Thanks once...
I have a feeling that this is really easy but I can't figure it out!
I have a budget in cell B2 with (money spent up to a quarter date) in cells C2, D2, E2 and F2. Balance left in G2
What I want is the formula for G2.
A simple formula would obviously be G2=B2-F2 but if it's only part the way...
I'm trying to use a Word document that has merge fields. The document was originally created when I had Office 2000, now I have XP. When I first open any of my merge docs I have to reconnect to the relevant Access database. I then have to recall which query or table the .doc was connected to and...
Variables have to be declared before using them - in the case of this piece of code look at:
Dim WSHShell, RegKey
Set WSHShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
After the "Dim" you can "Set" the variable to something or other.
Now look at the next bit:
' vb script...
I'm OK with octals now I've seen what you're doing (something like setting sub net masks) though it may be 'using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut'
How would the loop code look?
(:I Leco
That's a neat way of making the check boxes - but then how do you "gather" the info from individual boxes? Say I want to find out who has ticked box A, do I have to have a query with all 42 fields or 42 separate queries?
Many thanks for the code so far.

Read this thread with great interest, it's all helped a lot with a small database I'm working on.
I have a question - can I send an email to a filtered set of records? I've managed to email a report based on the filtered set but I can't figure out how to combine that piece of coding (using...
I just wondered if anyone else has had this problem. When I'm logged onto my server I can reach the proxy but can get no further i.e. no web access. When I'm logged onto any of the workstations internet access works fine (if a tad slow).
The problem only started when we changed from Freeserve...
IE 5.5 was running fine on my NT4 Server but has now stopped working! The error page shows the message "cannot display page . . etc." Connections can be made from any of the workstations and computers on the system, the server can do Norton LiveUpdates etc. but it simply refuses to...
This sounds similar to a problem I have. Accounts suddenly became locked out - my users are children so unsuccessful logins happen frequently. The policies/accounts were NOT set to lock out after so many tries for exactly that reason. At about the same time new folders were created in their...
I've been here forever . . . well not quite but certainly since the network was installed.
However, I've re-built all the profiles from the bottom up (or should that be from the top down?) because some stopped working and I don't want the same thing to happen again. Fore warned is etc..
Thanks...
Thanks for this. The only thing is I wasn't aware that I had any NT3.5x users! All the profiles were created on NT4 and all apart from one were/are being used from workstations running Win2K. The exception was a user on a Win98 SE machine. This user now has a Win2K machine.
Would that change of...
Has anyone any idea what this folder is and where it comes from? My Profile folders have suddenly started generating ntuser.pds folders inside the main profile folder on my NT4 Server. The ntuser.pds folder appears to contain duplicates of all folders within the profile folder and cannot be...
