Cheers linney I'll see what I can do... BTW already tried cleaning up the registry etc, defragging the HD now.
Not quite sure what's happening as everything is fine EXCEPT opening a new Explorer window - other apps perform as B4.
Getting strange delays (up to 5 seconds) on my Toshiba laptop when opening an explorer window eg. My Documents. Everything else seems to be fine and the windows respond OK once they've started.
BTW the window appears in the task-bar 1st almost straight away, and then eventually the window pops...
... Hmmm I guess not!... OK my ideal features would include-
1. Detects folder / file renaming (so it doesn't have to copy over 2GB of video if you change the name of the video folder)
2. Detects changes and then synchronises (I don't know if this is practical but it seems like a nice idea)...
When my PC can't find something on the 'net (say a dead www address, can't connect to the email server or whatever) it keeps on bringing up the dialup dialog despite me telling it to 'NEVER DIAL A CONNECTION' in Internet Options... Any way to make it behave? Thanks!
Phew!... I've seen the 1st and 3rd before, just wondering if you can fill me in a bit on the pros and cons of each... I have a feeling the 1st two might be more suitable for synchronising loads of folders like all my documents?
I have a laptop and would like to keep the 'my documents' folder synchronised with my desktop over the network - what's the easiest way to do this? (Preferably free!)
Cheers!

That did it! And I HAD run Toni Arts Easycleaner!...
hmmm.. does anyone know if recent versions of his software still create problems? or could someone recommend an alternative?
Many thanks,
Bill.
hmm no luck so far, i tried sfc /scannow but it made no difference. the helpctr.exe file IS there, and on running it appears in task-manager but then just dissapears again.
Also tried the reg-fix on the link you gave but it didn't work...
Just noticed THIS folder is empty, could this be the...
Is there any way I can use a PC as an external firewire/USB drive? Just come across this feature in Macs, very useful - you can boot em straight into 'drive' mode where they will slave exactly like a normal external drive.
One of my clients has 2 XP machines and 2 licences for them. Somehow the same serial no. has been entered on both - not a problem, but they want everything legit, so can they change the serial even now, after activation?
