but there is a hitch i think in this.
in this case the 1st combo box has only 4 items init, but if it has around 30 items, & the 2nd combo box would have atleast 10 items on it depending on the chosen 1st item....

but then why isint it working fine in netscape....coz i tried to output the result via a input box , instead of using defaultStatus...it works just fine.as ive re-written it below, but i want the time to be displayed in the status bar....How can i get this???

i hv a timer function code ...which displays the time taken by the user on visiting this page....
the time-taken status is displayed in the status bar of IE but not Netscape.
is there anyother way where i can display in the status bar...

i hv submitted something similar to wat ur looking for ...in the 1st half of ur question !
but it is not IE compatible unfortunately ....
its being posted under bug in th date vaildation code in IE
may be ull find it usefull.in case u dont get it then u could email me.
There is an error in the below mentioned code which is used to check for the date
i. e when the date is entered ....the js code written checks if its a valid date or not.
it works fine with netscape ..but gives an error icon on the status bar for IE.

session varaibles is fine ...but the value for this WkEnd will remain constant only for maximum 3 asp pages & then it has to be chosen again on another link under the same sight.
and i think using session variables will create complication...
instead i was thinking if could hv WkEnd as hidden...
1.i have a varaible say "A" which i retrive in a select box in an htm file which connects to asp file number 1
2.then i check for some condition in the asp file number 1...the conditon is based
on a sql query which redirects(by including files) to the respective asp file number 3 or...
