Ok, well that is almost as retarded as I am. The doc file was created on a different machine (hence different owner, I suppose) picked up via email from the serving machine created link on server machine created new dir on server machine placed dnld doc file in new dir = 403 then copy and pasted...- IamSwell

not sure if this is the same.. and I'm a complete unix file system retard and a big cheater I'm using Gnome but I found /etc/mime.types and it does have crap load of mime/type stuff and 'application/msword doc' is in there?
