    Netgear Wireless Router "drops" connection

...I got a Linksys wireless router and installed it this weekend. The installation process alone was easier than with the Netgear -- Linksys packages theirs with a cd that automates the process. I was impressed that it detected the ISP and plugged in the computer's MAC value automatically to...

    Netgear Wireless Router "drops" connection

:D I was thinking about getting a Linksys...but wanted to see if there was any hope before I scrap the Netgear. I looked up the firmware updates on the Netgear website, but by the description, it sounds like what's already in use, so I'm not too hopeful about that either... well, thanks for...

    smtp;550 5.7.1 Access denied

What is a PTR record? I'd like to clear up the same issue, but don't know what exactly to look for off the www.dnsstuff.com site.

Data not being displayed on 2nd page

The margins did the trick: I adjusted left and right from 1" to 0.75", and, there it was! :) Thanks!

Data not being displayed on 2nd page

I've got a simple 3-column report that has 2 pages, but isn't displaying anything on the second page. Everything was fine when there was only enough data to fill just one page, but now that there's more, the last group's record gets cut off. I tried setting the group to "keep together," but...

    Netgear Wireless Router "drops" connection

I tried saving the config, resetting, and then reloading the config. It seemed to work...until the Internet connection was dropped again. I'm thinking it's a screwy hardware glitch and I'll have to contact Netgear. Thank you for your suggestion though!

    Netgear Wireless Router "drops" connection

I have a Netgear wireless router at home, with a single desktop wired to one of its ports, a cable modem providing an Internet connection to it, and a TiVo device using it wirelessly with a Linksys card. It's been set up for a couple months now, but recently the TiVo has had trouble finding the...

Best way to check data before it's saved to database?

    Ah, thank you!

Best way to check data before it's saved to database?

My users might fiddle with the form, but without knowing it. So, I guess server-side it is (plus my javascript's pretty limited). I guess if it doesn't validate, have a message stating what didn't validate, with a link that simply goes back to the page (without reloading)? Since this is what...

Best way to check data before it's saved to database?

Please bounce some ideas my way about how to check data from a form's elements before they're saved to a database! To be more specific: I have an "edit" page that displays a record, with each field in a textbox. However some fields, like the dates, have size limits or are specific types...

select individual record from Excel data to merge in Word

Still working on it (I've been a bit distracted on other stuff), but I'll let you know if (when!) I get to the bottom of it!

Error: Cannot update. Database or object is read-only

Yea - that did it! I went to the folder and looked at Security under Properties, and sure enough, the "Users" only had Read permissions. Now if I could just get it to return the primary key value... Hey, thanks you two for helping me figure out all this IUSR stuff!

Error: Cannot update. Database or object is read-only

Okay, I'm pretty sure I'm following. :) I went to IIS and in Web Sites Properties, Directory Security tab, looked up "anonymous access and authentication control." Currently it's set with Anonymous Access checked, No user name/password required to access this resource. Account used for...

Error: Cannot update. Database or object is read-only

Oh, sorry. "testdb" is the System DSN through ODBC that points to the Microsoft Access Database. The database is on my local machine and I can open/write to it directly without any problem, so I didn't think that would be an issue. But how can I check IUSR_MachineName to see if it has access?

Error: Cannot update. Database or object is read-only

I'm trying to add a record to a table, using VBScript. I haven't had any problems viewing records, but now I'm adding in this capability, and I'm having issues with opening a read/write recordset. The error I'm getting is this: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'...

expected end of statement error: Dim or For line

:D Thanks! Oh man, that was when I had the other Response.Write lines following it, before I broke it up to add in the If statements, and the For statements...and I just didn't notice it. Thank you kindly! ^.,.^ Jaime

expected end of statement error: Dim or For line

I'm getting an expected end of statement error on a Dim or For statement line, depending on how I've rearranged the code to try and debug it. I'm setting up an ASP page that will display a 2-column table, slowly adding in functionality (and subroutines) by just hard-coding it to test it bit by...

select individual record from Excel data to merge in Word

Okay, cool. So, I haven't used ActiveX controls before. I've done stuff in VB through Access, and created some Macros in Word and Excel. Is it similar? Or rather, for an ActiveX control, do I simply insert one and edit its properties/code in the Visual Basic editor? Or is it more...

select individual record from Excel data to merge in Word

I'd be using a template in Word to generate each document, and changing the contents of the body accordingly. After fumei's reply about fields, I did some experimenting with fields and forms, but for the drop-down form, I found it only takes a static list through the form's properties. Is...

select individual record from Excel data to merge in Word

Is there a way to use only one record from an Excel sheet to populate fields in a Word document? (I'm running 2003, but other users in the office have 2000.) More specifically, I have an Excel sheet that lists companies and their corresponding address book information per record. Letters and...
