Actually I LIKE the Wrox book entitled "Beginning VB.Net 2003". Lots of good examples and complete programs. Plus it covers database and Web programming.
As you get more into VB .Net, I also suggest "Database Programming With Visual Basic .Net" from Apres. It's indepth coverage of programming...
What you need to do is trap errors in your application and allow the user to gracefully exit your app(s). Simply pressing ctrl + Alt + del can lead to serious data corruption, which you probably want to avoid. Your apps need to flush any data or roll back transactions, etc to a previous know...

If you can find it, I highly recommend the book "Database Programming With Visual Basic .Net" from apress. Tons of info, including an appendix on locking. Plus lots of other very interesting info.
Yes, they'll live happily togather. Yes you can add more SATA drives later. You MAY have 2 SATA connections on board already. If not, you can add a SATA controller. SATA drivers must be loaded during your OS installation.
SATA drives exist on a single channel, there is no prim./secondary to...
It will be interesting to see who Sun aims there db at. What platform9s) will it be released for and what kind of performance it has.
I think Sun is headed for an uphill battle with the big 3 (namely Oracle, IBM and Microsoft). They'll need something to make them stand out and for users to...
OOOPS.. should have asked, are you SURE you don't have a port on your laptop labelled com? That's the serial port.
You might also want to look for a program called laplink. It's purpose is excatly what u are looking for and SHOULD include the proper cable(s).

Yes, install both NIC cards. Get them active (Should happen automatically after a reboot). The cable you will need is called a cross over cable. Connect both the laptop and desktop. From WHERE you are transferring files, make sure to SHARE the folders and you'll be able to move files...
Take a look at www.informatik.com. They have a product that will output to either tiff and/or pdf. It works as a printer. It's not cheap tho. $125. You can download and try it for free for 30 days. I really like this site as I have used their tools in the past to do some other conversions...

I'm doing ok, I think. Is it Friday yet??? lol.. Actually Friday promises to be a long day, as i have a vendor coming in to try a procedure to do a mass import of stored documents..
How many forms move on w/o hitting a button?? Hmm off the top of my head I can't think of too...
Shouldn't automation also detect for erroneous data entered and give the user the chance to fix errors before moving on?? Preferably when the user moves from one field to the next...
Sounds like a very good place for a join on each table. And (not knowing Interbase) a good place to create a view on your 3 tables. Then process your data out of your view.
Start your vb net project. Do a Search in help for commandtype. You SHOULD find an entry titled "Running Stored Procedures From Code" or something very close. It gives you a good starting point.
As far as the best way to validate? There are probably a number of ways.
You would want to trap...
The best way I have found (esp. if you can get your company to spring for it)is to use Partition Magic. It'll wipe out ANY partition... AND you can create diskettes to run it from your floppy.
Speaking of using a floppy, make sure the floppy drive is enabled in the BIOS, otherwise no floppy...
Wow, OS/Warp. There is an OS I haven't heard anything about in a long time. It was/is actually a very good OS.
You might want to ask your question in the OS/2 forum under Desktop Systems->Operating Systems.
Go into the BIOS set up. If you have a setting to reboot on all errors, change it to stop on all errors. Reboot. This time you SHOULD get a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with at least one message.
More than likely when you installed Win2k, a file has become corrupted. Possible the file ntldr. It...
