Well - finally got it fixed. Note sure exactly which manipulation fixed the problem, but the ORDER of installation of the various drivers seems to be significant. You have been warned.- siglorel

Help please, I had a perfectly functional Windows XP setup on an HP laptop (NC 6000) with a built in WLAN.
