Need help with DNS (ptr records)

All, I've been reading up on DNS, and can't find any leads on the issue I'm having. 2 Windows 2000 Domain Contollers, with 650 XP Clients. Clients should be updating via dynamic DNS. DHCP lease time is 1 day, DNS scavenging for all zones is 3 days. Scavenging is running ok, it just doesn't...

    Application installs early

Well, I tried creating the app object from scratch, still no go. I figured out that when I choose FORCE RUN, that makes it install when the WOrkstaiton Agent next checks in with the server. But if I remove the FORCE RUN, the app only caches, it doesn't install at all, even at the right time...

    Application installs early

Tried upgrading to Zenworks 6.5 SP2, did not fix the problem. I may have to create a new app object. Andrew

    Application installs early

Hey All, Zenworks 6.5 (SP2), XP Workstations I have a Workstation assoicated application object. It is set to be available from 6-7PM and is set to Force Run. Most of our PC's have 100Mb connections. On the 10Mb connections, this application object deploys WAY before 6PM. Is there a slow...

    Newbie question re: application deployment

Ok guys, thanks for your help. I have it sort of working. I set it up to be available at night, with force run and run once selected, and associated it to some workstations. One of them worked. The others did not. Now that I have the concept down, I need to figure out why some of them aren't...

    Newbie question re: application deployment

Sorry, I should have been more clear. The icon they click on is in fact a Zen icon. When they click it it installs Office 2003 for them. What I want to happen is to totally remove the user intervention, so that Office 2003 installs without any input from them. The tricky part is that I...

    Newbie question re: application deployment

Hey Guys, Unfortunately the preinstall route didn't work. When the user got in, he launched Outlook and it was still 2000, not 2003. He was able to double click the icon though, which launched the installer which finished the install ok. Don't know what to do from here, any other ideas would...

    Newbie question re: application deployment

Wow guys, thanks for the info. I've read that section at least 4 times and it took you guys to point out that the pre-install is what I want to do. I guess I thought that pre-install was just going to cache the files on the system. I'm glad that's how I setup my 3 test workstations today. I...

    Newbie question re: application deployment

Hey Guys, I read through the document and still haven't found the answer. Is it possible to deploy it to the workstation with no user intervention at night? (so the user doesn't even have to click an icon or login so that FORCE RUN would take effect?) I want to deploy it to all of my systems...

    Newbie question re: application deployment

Thanks, I'll read this today and post back. We have Netware servers so there really isn't any Windows involvement except the workstations. Andrew

    Newbie question re: application deployment

Hi All, I am a wanderer from Microsoft land and happen to have come across a 700 computer (Win XP) enterprise that happens to have the ZEnworks client installed on all of the workstations. My job is to remotely deploy Office 2003 to all of them (they currently have Office 2000). I have been...

Active Directory Sites: Client not getting correct domain controller

Hey All, We recently started using Active Directory Sites & Services to associate different subnets to different sites so that the local domain controller at each site would respond to the clients in the subnet assigned to that site. Everything worked well except for one subnet. Systems in...

Arcserve <Unexpected SCSI sense code> on Windows 2003

I fought with this for months. The problem is that the error code is too generic to really tell you what is going on, so it could be many things. I hit the forums really hard, and while the answers I found were thoughful, none of them worked. Mine was the same problem, the job got 5-10...

No option for System State on remote server (BAB 11.1)

Thanks for the info. In the backup selections tree, I chose the node for "network" and drilled down until I got to the machine I want to backup. Then, I right clicked and selected "Use Agent." I went in and selected "Computer Name Resolution" and hit Ok. Then it prompted for my login info...
