    Watermarks on PDFs in ID?

Is there a way of applying a watermark to PDFs created in indesign? Unscrupulous types'll just take your artwork to other mags once they're proofed y'see. Thanks in advance. hal.

    Checking for Lo Res images

Yes. Yes it does. Thanks for that. Is there a way to actually get Indesign to highlight these issues? At the moment, Preflight will only highlight RGB images.

    Checking for Lo Res images

Is there a setting in Preflight or whatever which will pick up on Low Res images (or images below a certain DPI) in Indesign CS (Version 3.0)? This would make an aspect of my job a whole heap easier if there is. Thank you in advance.

    Splitting PDFs

My printer would prefer I supply a magazine page by page individually But I would rather just send over sections of 16 pages each. Is there a swift and automated way of splitting these sections of 16 into individually named PDFs?

Keeping corners effects when adding shapes

How do I keep all the corner effects on boxes when I add them together through the pathfinder? Say if one box has a corner effect and one doesn't, when they are added together, they both have to have the same setting as each other. Annoying. Any takers?

Copy heavy pages - always seem to look a bit scruffy.

I design a listings magazine and whilst the features and advert pages look fine, the actual listings pages always seem to look a bit scruffy. Are there any swift and brutal tips to go some way to sorting this out? Any hints, websites etc would go greatly appreciated.

    Line formatting help

A simple way around it is to position the cursor immediately after the last letter of the lowest line, press return and then delete anything below it.

    Pasteboard size discrepancies in IDCS

Would anyone know why my pasteboard jumps from a perfectly reasonable size to a massive number, not in the preferences bit but on the actual layaout, you can see that's now about 30000 mm. What's going on, Mekon?

Maintain lines using different font sizes. InD CS.

Brilliant. Thanks a lot jimoblak. I've actually been using the jmgalvin method for months now on a monthly mag. With any luck, it'll start looking a little more pro from here on in.

Maintain lines using different font sizes. InD CS.

If I have a page of copy, 4 columns (or whatever) with lots of small articles in it and I want to head each piece up with a bigger point size, is there a way I can get all the lines to, well, line up? It all seems to go a little awry.

Creating a reverse block character style

Thanks a lot Tad. You've saved me quite a bit of work with this handy piece of knowledge.

Creating a reverse block character style

Is there a way of creating a reverse block effect in a character style? I think I'm on to something but not too sure. I'm creating a thick strikethrough that would work fine but I can't get the text visible through the strikethrough. Is there a way of bringing the text forward over the...

    Overprinting in Indesign.

Thanks Marcus. Once again you have leapt to my aid like a bodyguard taking a bullet for the president. You are invaluable.

    Overprinting in Indesign.

I'm having a little bother with overprint. I kind of understand what it's there for, I think. It's to create a sort of transparency effect in XPress, isn't it? Problem is, now InDesign has it's transparency feature, isn't it a little redundant now? If not, what's it's purpose? And is there...

Spotting RGB & low res images in Indesign

Is there a process whereby I can detect in an indesign document whether or not there are any RGB pics or Images below a certain DPI?

    Exporting Document Presets between PCs

Is there a swift way of exporting all my 'new document' presets to another PC in InDesign CS?

    Is there a good book?..

.. or do I have to keep on bothering you guys for little tidbits on the Indesign Shortcut system? Honestly, I love indesign. When CS came out, I was one of those on their knees thanking some higher power. I have this book called 'photoshop power shortcuts' (isbn 0-7897-2172-4) which, to be...

    Having Indesign automatically relink images.

In Quark, if there were images unlinked, you could tell it where one of them was and it would realise the other missing links were in the same folder too and give you the option to automatically relink to those as well. Does ID have this feature? Can't seem to find it. Linking loads of images...

    Jumping between files query.

Thanks for that. But why does it sometimes work with both ` and '? but never at the same time. Show grids is sometimes control + the hash button. I suppose it keeps me on my toes, if nothing else.
