Hi,
I have a laptop running with 2 Virtual PC environments. When I'm connected to my Wireless LAN all works well - the Virtual PC environments can communicate with each other and with the host and the host can communicate with the virtual PCs. The virtual PCs have been configured to use the...
Linney,
To answer your question, no it would not boot into safe mode. However, I did follow another of your suggestions which was to try the startup repair facility and this did the job. I'm now back up and running.
Thanks for all your suggestions.......and have a star.
Andy
Ben,
1. No. Vista was installed afterwards.
2. I hadn't tried their website although I've had a quick look now and can't see any relevant documents.
3. There are no USB devices plugged in.
Thanks for the suggestions.

Hi,
I have a 6 month old Toshiba laptop that's running Vista. Its been having some troubles for a while now. Some days when I start it up (from completely off - not hibernating or sleeping) I get an error message that reads:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might...
Peter,
Thanks for your post. Where did you find that article?!! I've been searching for hours on end and couldn't come up with anything useful!! Out of interest, did you find it through a search engine? If so which one and what did you enter?!!
We have 4 Windows servers that each back up their...
Hi,
I've noticed that the system drive on one of our Windows 2000 Advanced Server servers is running very low on space. I cleared this up a few weeks ago so was a little confused that it was all gone so quickly especially as the drive is not used to store any data.
Looking around I found...
Thanks for all your help on this. I re-posted this message in the IIS forum as this is probably where it should have gone in the first place!! If anyone's interested in how I fixed this issue (well, got round it anyway), click here: thread41-1328475

Hi,
My last post was prompted by the info I found here: http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/thread-1596312.php. Someone was having the same problem and this was there resolution:
I therefore tried removing the CA services from the Windows 2003 OWA server and instead installed them on our Windows...
I've just thought of some info that I didn't include that might be useful...
The 2 domain controllers in our domain are Windows 2000 and the server that is trying to create the certificate is a member server running Windows server 2003.
Not sure is that helps anyone but thought it might.
Andy
Serbtastic,
Thanks for the quick response. I tried following the instructions on the link you gave me and I got the following error when I attempted to submit the Certificate Request:
Your certificate request was denied.
Your Request Id is 107. The disposition message is "Denied by Policy...
Hi,
I have already posted this thread in the Windows Server 2003 forum (thread931-1325019) but no-one there seems to be able to help, so I thought I'd try asking it here too (as I guess this is where it should have been posted in the first place!!)
I am trying to set up an SSL certificate that...
Thanks for your help...
ntfsDOTsys: I realise that the users would get a message stating that the cetificate is not from a trusted source and I also agree that it would be better to purchase a certificate. However, I would like to get some sort of SSL Certificate up and running allowing the...
Hi,
Firstly, this is the first time I have attempted to set up SSL certificates so please forgive any confusion or mis-use of terminology!!
I am trying to set up an SSL certificate that will allow users to connect to our Intranet and Outlook Web Acess sites securely (using HTTPS). I followed...
Your DC does not have to be the DNS server for the network. It can be any PC or your router might even be able to do it. Having said that, the DC can be the DNS server if you want it to be...it can also be the DHCP server too!! Its all up to you. For network connectivity you need this...

Mark,
Sorry for the confusion - we do have an Exchange add in that allows ArcServe to back up each mailbox - and restore it etc. It seems that Arcserve doesn't purge the logs when its finished backing up. This is obviously an ArcServe issue and something I would need to ask them about.
Thanks...
BoulderBum,
You need to determine where the problem lies. It could be that you have no Internet connection, your DNS isn't working or something else.
Open a command window and try to ping 64.233.183.147 (one of the IP addresses for www.google.com). ping 64.233.183.147If you get a response then...
Thanks for the explanation Mark. When you say "If you do a full backup then the messages are commited and the logs are no longer used" I presume that this backup would be an internal Exchange backup? i.e. When ArcServe has backed up the mailboxes, Exchange won't necessarily know that this has...
markdmac, there were warnings about compatibility issues when I installed Exchange 2000 as well as when I installed Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2003 SP1. I ignored these as I didn't really intend for any of these to actually run. They were a means to an end - the end being Exchange 2003 SP2...
Hi all,
Just thought I should upgrade this post in case anyone else is interested...
The email server upgrade went surprisingly well! I did the following:
1) Backup all Exchange server databases and log files (this should really be done the night before as our 16GB email database and 13,500...
