Ok, had the same problem with an Asus A7v266-e. You problem is the memory. The Registered ECC doesnt work with these mobos (they dont support it). Alot of motherboards can deal with the 4 extra bits (ECC part), but the Registered has to do with memory timing and it will lock them up tighter...
I configure quite a few systems with Asus motherboards and subsequently flash alot BIOS. When I run the Aflash utility, after flashing the utility asks me if I would like to flash again. (Y)Yes happens to be default. My question is, does anyone usually flash the BIOS more than once, if so...
Sounds like intermitent memory failure. May be heat related issue specific to the 256MB mods. How hot do they get? Did you build the system yourself? What are the specs and brands?
What is your power supply rated at? RDRAM uses lots of power. Maybe supply can't provide enough power. Just a thought.
How many RIMM Slots do you have? Do you have the memory paired correctly? (RIMMA1,RIMMB1);(RIMMA2,RIMMB2)
Good Luck
Lokidog,
Things to consider:
1. How many open slots do you have? You don't want to fill all of you slots with lower capacity modules.
2. What is the maximum that your motherboard will address for each module? Usually around 512MB (for a 3 slot total of 1.5GB). The more RAM you can get in...
butchrecon,
I seems that you have done the one thing that I fear the most when using Ghost. I don't think that the data is recoverable because it wasn't just flagged as deleted but acually overwitten with blank tracks (something like a zero fill). If the blank (source) drive was formated, I...
Has anyone noticed that Gateway is selling a desktop running a 1.8GHz P4? I believe that Intel only makes a 1.7GHZ processor. Is Intel allowing Gateway to overclock its processor for marketing reasons?

Use the above link to get the latest rev of the P5A-B bios and get the aflash utility. You can flash the bios from a basic Windows system floppy(basic boot disk). Copy the (unzipped) bios update and aflash to the disk and boot up on it. At the...
I recently installed a lot of 20 (205AA)WDs and two of them have already died with the same symptoms that you just decribed. The drive should still be under waranty. WD is very good about replacing faulty drives.
kb244,
We were both wrong, it is "Error Correction Code".
See pdf page 56 on this doc.

I was closer.=)
You multipy the number before the "M" by 8 and that is the memory module's size in MB. The 64 tells you that that the module is non parity or no ECC (Error Code Correction). If that number was 72 it would represent a parity module that supports ECC.
Good Luck
Hello all,
I was wondering, what is the best burn-in software to use for the different computer sub-systems (cpu, memory, video, mobo, etc.). I would greatly appreciate any info and/or links you may have.
Thanks
