This should be the line in the file /etc/inetd.conf which is creating your problem try removing the # symbol at the starting of the entry
bootps dgram udp wait root /usr/sbin/bootpd bootpd
I'am not exactly sure but i think you have to do a little tinkering with /etc/inetd.conf file and the rc scripts where you have the startup scripts written for bringing up your network card mostly look for it in rc2.d directory.

I cannot ping using internet name.My other win98 machine uses the same dns addreses and it works perfectly fine when the dsl cable is connected to this nic.
I have win2k server with 1 nic which is connected to a dsl hub, now the problem is i can ping to the internet when i give ping 202.54.30.2 but when i give the name of the site in the browser it times out,i have set the dns server address in the ip protocol tab.
i tried to configure 2 linksys cards on my machine but really dunno which one signifes for each driver and also there is no routing taking place between these two cards .my intanet card routes packet only to my gateway address but not beyond that.
I'm not very sure but i think the solaris box has the parameter "login=/dev/console" is activated and only from that console you can log in into the machineas root.however if you want to login you can use other user accounts and then give switch user "su" command.Hope this...
Run the command of ps -ef | grep nfsd on the linux server
coz ur sharing a filesystem on linux and mounting on sun and also make sure what are the versions of nfs running on linux sometimes it gives problem with old sun clients.however the best solution is just try and kill nfsd deamon on linux...
