    I tried the last suggestion. Gets to login screen, while I'm typing in my password it restarts. ? I'm really confused. I got a new monitor a few months ago.     stduc, do you have any idea if this freezer technique has the chance of ruining data that the pros may be able to recover? If its unlikely that I am going to destroy drive further, I would be willing to try it.

    I solved the problem before your reply but thanks for all the advice anyway. Ended up getting Spy Sweeper to complete a scan in safe mode. It caught and removed something that allowed scans from the other programs to complete and remove a whole list of junk. Computer is back to normal. Thanks.

    Ok, I fixed the problem with the help of bcastner's post. Found registry value Ginadll set to CTCGina.dll, changed to Msgina.dll. Everything seems to be working fine. Thanks for everyones help.

    Ok finally I got it to boot in safe mode but it won't boot safe with networking and I need to get this file (36M) off the computer or find and fix the problem that is causing this so I don't have to format. I can't find in Remote software. Where else should I look? Thanks.

    Peachtree corrupt .dat files

    I found Btrieve and it rebuilt 4 of the files successfully but 2 of the files have these statements in error log. REBUILD-68: Status code 54 was returned while copying records from the following file: REBUILD rejected a total of 89035 records. Can anything be done or am I stuck backing up?
