Due to a lack of servers at a remote location, I need to create a File Share Witness on a DC (which is also a DNS server) at that location.
I have read that that is fine. The problem is that the software vendor that has the clustered application recommends a cname entry for the server that...
Win2k3 domain....
I have had a couple people over the past few weeks that cannot change their passwords. They are using the correct format, nothing they have used in the past, etc, but when they try, they get the message that lists our password policy criteria.
I can change their passwords...
One of my techs has set up a VPN connection on an domain member XP machine. While the logged on domain user is in the local admin group, he is able to connect, but when the user is removed from that group, he cannot connect.
That user cannot stay in the local admin group.
How do I need to...
I was using a W2k pro station. I have just upgraded to XP. Periodically, I need to UNC to servers and check the drive space, basically '\\servername\c$'. Under W2k pro, it would show the free space in the left pane, but with XP, it will not.
Is there any way to turn that feature on?
Thanks!
I am way behind on patching my servers due to many reasons. I was hoping to go to sp2 soon enough that it would get them up to date. However, some of the 3rd party software we run is not compatible with sp2 and may never be.
Therefore, I need a plan to safely patch these servers. We have a...
Gee, it's that simple.....the reboot resolved it.
I know absolutely nothing about SQL, so I was not sure what to do. I always get great help in this forum.
Thank you very much!
Thanks to you all.
I am an admin, not a dba, so heretofore I have skillfully avoided having to deal with databases. However, with so many 3rd party apps requiring sql now, I have no choice, and of course, we do not have a SQL DBA on staff, just Oracle.
Thanks again!
I know absolutely nothing about SQL, but it is being forced upon me. I do not have time for classes, but my reading comprehension is pretty good.
Does anyone know of any online (free) documentation that would be on a beginner level? I am not talking programming or tricks, just basic Sql...
I will keep looking.
Odd thing, after I came back from lunch, another machine is now listed in WINS as inet~services Domain controller (it's not a DC either) and the original W2kpro machine no longer has that entry.
Weird.
Thanks for your help.
I have a W2k3 domain running WINS and DNS.
I have this WINS entry for a W2kpro machine:
inet~services [1Ch] Domain Controller
This workstation runs IIS, but is, of course, not a DC.
I have no idea how long the entry has been there, but is it a problem? I have had complaints over...
I am being forced to implement BES in my organization. I use Exchange 2000, sp3.
Blackberry support has basically been useless, so can anyone tell me if I can just do an 'out of the box' installation of BES and be done with it or do I need to create a bunch of policies, filters, etc. I only...
I want to use the 'Telephone number' field in AD for the employee number, but I see that it shows up in the Outlook GAL for all to see....not want I want.
How can I hide that field from Exchange 2000/Outlook 2000?
Thanks!
Thanks Mark. What I actually need is the total password change history on the account. I know it has been changed 5 times in the life of the account, but I need to know the dates.
I need to generate a list of the dates when a user account password was changed. I know it was 5 times in the life of the account, but I need to know when.
Are there any scripts or utilities to return this info?
Thanks!
I have de-commissioned about a dozen servers over the past year and right now they are just stacked against the wall. I can surplus them at my company's auction, but I would rather destroy the harddrives than low-level format them and release them to the public.
What are my options as far as...
That's what I would have thought, but apparently MS is issuing a patch specifically for Exch2003 related to the time change issue. I haven't found much official info beyond that.
