    Sonicwall 2040 Setup For VPN

I think there is a way to do it if both sonicwall devices are running Enhanced OS, but it is rather difficult. Andrew's method is simple and sure to work.

routing between two different point-to-point VPNs

Argh, turns out I had one side set to the LAN zone instead of VPN zone.

routing between two different point-to-point VPNs

I have two separate point-to-point VPNs. Site A is a satellite office, site B hosts some web servers. Site A cannot access services in site B. The networks do not overlap. I have firewall rules allowing each to see any service in the other. The VPN config shows that the route to Site A...

    Novell 4.11

Windows firewall is probably blocking the watchdog packets. BTW if a hard disk is making noise, failure is imminent. Noise means friction.

    Redundant sonicwalls, redundant switches underneath

It is the "stacked" part that is the gotcha. Can you just get a cheap unmanaged switch and put the failover in that?

Isolate a single port from rest of switch?

Hello, I am trying to reduce the scope of PCI cardholder data-carrying networks. I have a POS system that I would like to completely isolate from everything except the firewall. I have a Catalyst 4500 switch. Right now I have no access lists in place. Is such a thing possible?

    users who disregard backup policy

I just remind users that local drives are not backed up, and I am not responsible for that data. If they refuse to put stuff on the server, it is their own lookout.

    orphaned mailbox

Like an idiot I deleted an account in AD but now the mailbox will not delete. I get an error that says "The operation could not be performed because object (object name) could not be found on domain controller (pdc name). I need to get rid of this box so I can add the email addy to another...

How to measure amount of data passed?

I posted this in the AIX forum as well. Can anyone suggest a way to measure the amount of data passed between a solaris web server and an AIX database server? I am trying to look into the bandwidth needs if the database server moves to a different location.

How to measure amount of data passed?

Disclaimer - not a Unix user. Is there a command or method available which would allow me to measure the amount of data passed between a solaris web server and an AIX database server in a given timeframe?

    SNMP

Can anyone (Marv, I'm looking in your general direction) give some advice regarding configuring SNMP in a NW 6.5 environment? What to monitor, what thresholds to set, etc?

    DNS scenario

As it turns out, I did it all correctly. It started working after about 15 minutes, so I think I needed to wait for NDS replication. Thanks for the response.

Adding a new domain to GroupWise

Yes, the MX record for busybody.com must be set to the AppRiver mail server. Go to where the domain was registered (networksolutions, godaddy, whatever), log in (Mr. busybody domain registerer should have the login info) and set the MX record.

    DNS scenario

Here is my situation: I have a firewall that NATs a web server, and from the outside world it is great. My internal users cannot hit the outside address, they must use the internal IP. Unfortunately the device is not in the hosts files of my workstations. I tried to set it up in my internal...

    Novell server - Continuously beeping

There are any number of things that make a server beep. IPX Router issues (wrong network id), hardware, etc. Marv is right, if this is a critical system don't go monkeying around with it.

GW 6.5 Crashing when scrolling Address book

I have seen oddities when there is a bad address in a personal or FC address book. You could try exporting them and re-importing.
