If security is in question go to http://www.iss.net and download the ISS internet scaner it's 36 megs version 6.1 is the latest.
ISS will evaluate your system and create a report that you can browse using Netscape or IE. The report will tell you what and where to go to secure your server.
I would suggest IPChains set up on a Linux box or a free version of BSD. IPChains is very configurable,while BSD is more secure than Linux for an OS. The commercial version of BSD is much more secure then the free versions but cost quite abit more. IPChains will provide the same type of security...
I used to work at a college in the IT Department, We used PolEdit and Novell's Apps launcher.
With Poledit you can lock the box down remove access to the thing like the run command in the start menu, network neighborhood changing the desktop adding printers ect... Force login through the network...
