The problem I seem to have with this is that the id is an autonumber, intrying to automate this to copy over I ge a fault because it is trying to enter the id into the new records field thereby creating a duplicate value.

Just using a standard update query.

I'm not sure if this will help your application, but last week I read a post where you go to tools, options, general and uncheck the 2 autocrrect boxes. I have a couple of forms that were really, really slow, noe they open up almost intantaneously.
