I did turn the swap off on C:. It is almost like the system doesn't detect the local disk when looking for the swap and creates a default swap on the SAN instead.
Does anyone know at which point the swap is checked on bootup?
Si
This is a strange thing. I boot win 2003 from an iSCSI SAN. I have a local hard drive and want to use it for swap only. I have formatted the HD and modified the swap file to point to S: drive only. The SAN boot volume is set to "No pagefile".
On reboot, a pagefile has been created on S...
Our SAN Dhcp server admins purely reserved IPs for PXE clients.
I want to try and script a test that will first query an active DHCP server for an IP. I would like to release and then renew the IP and then inspect the dhcpoffer.
If the primary DHCP server is down, then the action I need to...
I am just getting into HTA. I've been using vbs for approx 2 years.
I am trying to convert an existing vbs script to HTA.
I want to open a child window that will ask for both a user name and password should the script detect that the server I connect to uses different credentials to my local...
I have a 3060. I want auto failover between two internal cisco routers. I have configured rip v2 between the sonicwall and the primary router. The sonicwall picks up the cisco routes with a metric of 120 - all well and good.
I then wanted a static route pointing to the second cisco but only...
Hi
I'm working in a hosting environment. We use 3060 PRO.
We want to control clients access behind the firewall (switched network) on a single dmz to dmz port.
I have been testing private vlan switches behind the firewall. The basic config connects a promisuous port to the Firewall and all...
I have a customer who has pressed the "wrong button" and as a result screwed up there database. I take a backup each night and a transaction log file backup at 4am each morning.
I have now taken another transaction log backup. My question is.......can I restore the backup from last night...
I need to source a 24/48 port switch that is capable of full private vlan support and run at gigabit on all ports. I am confused at the choice and how vague the data sheets are.
Key features:
24 port and 48 port copper
Vlan and private Vlans (promiscuous and community secondary vlans)
Jumbo...
I have an iscsi SAN that needs to run at gigabit. Our current switches do all but pvlans. We need to isolate individual ports to stop one client seeing other clients on the SAN backend.
I have tested a design using Dell 3448s running at 100Mbs so I know that everything is possible. I need to...

I have come across private vlan edge but no real info.

I am using DHCP with PXE to boot to a SAN. Although we are using DHCP, all clients have to be reserved - the DHCP server issues info regarding PXE and iSNS.
For redundancy I would like two DHCP servers on the SAN subnet. These servers would have to maintain the same scope, scope memebers and...
I have a iSCSCI SAN. A sonicwall 2040 protects the SAN from the public internet. It has been recommended that the SAN and SAN clients use jumbo frames.
The SAN will replicate volume data between two sites. I can't use NAT. It is possible for the Sonicwall to work with Jumbo Frames. Does...
We use a PS200. I rate it for the simplicity of use.
Our equallogic use includes booting from SAN for windows servers. We can deploy a new OS in 10 Minutes (automated with Sysprep)
We are looking into booting Linux SAN volumes as well.
We replicate volumes between sites
We snapshot...
Hi
We used an equallogic iSCSI SAN. I have setup Microsoft iSNS for target registration/discovery.
We use the MS iSCSI initiator. This seems to have two methods of target discovery. The first is "target portals" and the second iSNS.
iSNS is working. The problem I have.....I want to...
Yippee done it.
You can tell sysprep to leave the network alone.....refer to
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/deploy/depopt/simw2kdd.mspx
Although it applies to w2k pro, it worked very well on the windows 2003 server.
I can now deploy a new server in less then 10...
We are using iscsi volumes and are using emBOOT's netboot/i to boot to each volume. I believe that emBoot work very closely with Microsoft for approval.
As far as the SAN and the DELL servers that we use are concerned, there is very little difference to the way that blade servers deploy.
We...
We have a SAN which we boot from. The SAN allows the cloning of volumes. We thought this would be great to quickly roll out bootable volumes for new 2003 servers.
Started looking at sysprep. There doesn't seem to be any concise detailed help on practical configuration.
Anyway, I have...
I have just started using the dell 5324 properly. I have two Dell switches and have setup aggregated channels in one vlan and have a couple of ports configured for switch management on another vlan. I set up the spanning tree priorities on both switches.
When I parallel link the agregated...
I am have a few problems trying to subtract two date values that hold time. I am after the difference
The values start of in the format #6:52:11 AM#
When I take away #6:51:18 AM# from #6:52:11 AM#, I get 6.13425925925892E-04 (double value). If I try to convert it back to a time (It should be...
I have a new iSCSI SAN. I want to keep a local boot hd. The idea would be to start the boot from the hard drive containing the required iSCSI initiator to then mount remote file systems volumes.
We are using Fedora 4
Can anyone point me in the right direction to start searching on how I will...
