    Wont browse workgroup

It turned out that one of the guys on the network was running Trend Micro's PC-Cillin Internet Security and hadn't turned off the firewall. That particular firewall was what was causing all the problems.

    Unable to access workgroup.

I disabled the windows SP2 firewalls in each computer that is having this problem and that didn't change anything unfortunately.

    Wont browse workgroup

I tried all of the things suggested on those pages, but unfortunately they didn't work. In fact, now two other machines on my network are having the same problem. Reformatting fixes it, but that's a rediculous approach. Could this be viral? I have the latest sysclean and norton and pc-cillin and...

I've tried three different 512MB sticks of Kingston PC2700, each to no avail. I've also tried a different power supply, different XP CD, different CD drive, and removed teh...

    Win2k Logon Issue

We ran Trend Micro's Sysclean Utility (http://www.trendmicro.com/download/dcs.asp) and it found the virus Agabot.worm. The method we used to find that the system was in need of a deeper scan was running through the task manager when the system hung, we found there to be 2 instances of the...

    Win2k Logon Issue

Actually it turned out to be a virus problem--one that Norton Antivirus, updated to current, could not detect. A little registry editing fixed it right up and the problem was resolved. Thanks for your help Matt, and anyone that wants more details on this, ask and you shall recieve.

It was doing this before I got ahold of it, when there weren't any updates applied, and also after I got ahold of it when I reformatted and applied all the patches. I did check event veiwer, and it did have three different errors listed, but they were almost random, it was teh same three, but...

    Win2k Logon Issue

The computer I am working with is having issues logging in. About 9 times out of 10 the system will hang right after trying to log in as a user (doesn't matter which one). The system is still running, it hasn't crashed, and there isn't anything out of the ordinary in the task manager. The system...

    Network File Corruption

While I do get occasional slow transfers, and windows will slow down during large transfers, this doesn't mention anything about corruption. I will see what I can do to adjust the interframe gap, but I am not too overly bothered with slow transfers, my main concern is unusable files after...

    Network File Corruption

Obviously as this is the ethernet category in the forum, I am using ethernet and a 24-port linksys rackmount switch to do the transfers. All the transfers are set up and completed through windows/explorer. -TheLegend

    Network File Corruption

I have for the past few months had issues with file tranfers across my local network. Almost every file I receive (and some I send) are corrupted once the transfer is complete. The original file is always fine, but the transferred file is almost always no good. Any ideas why this is? -The Legend
