You'd be surprised how easy this is to make in After Effects.
There may even be a preset that is similar, already somewhere online, if not in Adobe Bridge!

But the main point to remember is :
Once you move your projects up to CS4, continue to move forward. You won't be able to read them in CS3 once they're saved as CS4 files (not that you'd want to).

Make sure you have an INTEL based Mac (if you're on Mac)
Check the machine specs. AE will install, but won't run after initial boot on a non-Intel machine.

You'll need to check out 4-POINT tracking which will help you attach the picture to the television screen. Then, you'll need to rotoscope (mask out) the foreground elements.
Don't forget to leave a little bit of reflection in the screen to integrate the final image into your tv!
Good luck...
You didn't figure it out?
Or do you have more difficult video to displace?
Also note: this video isn't just about a single layer, there are many different layers composited together with masks. This is no simple animation - but cut together with multiple sources.

Unfortunately - - 3D requires a third party plugin - ZAXWERKS. There are many different uses for the plugin tho. You might be able to get a simulation that works in 2D, then warped.
Let me play around with this one tonight.

When we can fly around without cables, I won't be sittin' around on AE tho'

Lossless will, as will most of the 10bit and 8bit versions.
Ones that DEFINITELY WON'T are JPEG, H264, SORENSON, the highly compressed codecs.
ANIMATION is by far my favorite codec when embedding an alpha channel. It keeps the alpha clean.

If you have After Effects CS3, you can use shape layers to create it... a lovely solution.
However, if you have a version before CS3, you'll probably want to use a mask shape (roto bezier might work the best), then use STROKE to draw along that mask.
You can animate the mask shape to make the...
The problem with really FAST motion is that motion trackers generally have a hard time analyzing from frame to frame, especially if there's pivot information (like a jittery camera movement in a falling helicopter).
I would check out the Adobe site for their tutorials on tracking - - but better...
If you own After Effects and Trapcode Particular, Harry Franks has a preset for this called "Aurora Borealis" or something like that. He has a website called "GrayMachine".

Just export using a codec that supports an alpha channel or MILLIONS+.

I would shoot 90 if you can. I think the HVX will only go to 60.
One thing to keep in mind is that your particles (explosion pieces) should be AT SCALE too. That's usually the biggest problem.

There is a new wire removal tool that allows you to do the same with a straight line.
As long as your "wire" isn't a bending cable, it'll do all of the heavy lifting for you. It's in the 3rd party freebies: CC Wire Removal
