you might try one hard drive on primary ide set as master then one dvd on secondary ide set as master. Be sure your board is not grounded by a stand off. Check in your bios to see what it detects as far as drives go. luck circo

Have you made any changes lately, like memory or video card? If not you might take a look inside your case to see if there is an obstruction, may be a fan is not working, dirty heatsink. Leave the case off and see if it runs ok, of so need to add a system fan. circo

What system is the hard drive from? Is it from your old system or your brothers? If it from your brothers you will need to format and reinstall the operating system, as all the drivers and settings will be different from one board to the next. circo

windows update has a driver update for Soundmax digital audio, it downloads but will not install. I have updated every update but this one, it refuses to install. The message is driver failed to install to try again. Any idea? thanks for any help. Using Xp Home on an HP Pavilion 750n circo
