i'm doing some development work on an application server (Win2k3) and a web server (Win2k3). My application that runs on the app server looks for a certain virtual directory in IIS on the web server.

I need a default instance because I'm installing a piece of software that will fail if there is not a local default instance of SQL Server, per the install instructions.
One of our servers has SQL 2k but all the servers registered are registered as named instances from other servers and there is no default instance (local).
How do I now create a 'local' default instance?

I have 2 fields: Begin_Date and Thru_Date
I need to pull records only where the current date (getdate?) is within the range of the Begin_Date and Thru_Date. (01/01/xx thru 12/31/xx)
The Thru_Date is never prior to the Begin_Date. What is the best way to structure the SQL stmt to do this...

I've had a wireless home network for a few years now using laptops but recently when i tried putting a wireless card in my pc (Win XP), the card installs but won't connect to the router/internet.

I'm trying to setup a remote ODBC connection on my server to a SQL Server 2000 server that uses MSDE 2000 and runs on a Windows Server 2003 (SBS). I have asked the client to open his firewall on the Server 2003 to allow my server range of IP's...
what i'm really looking for is a way to pull records that were updated on the current date only. This script would only pull those records who were last updated, today, for example.
select * from name where last_updated = current date only
The Last_Updated field is a datetime so I only want...
I'm trying to get the current system date without the time. I know I can use GetDate() but I don't want the time portion.
Isn't there a separate function just for date or am I going to have to use the convert syntax to pull it out?
What would the syntax be?
at end of publisher wizard it begins to create as publisher then throws this error:
"Error 18483: Could not connect to server 'ABC' because 'distributor_admin' is not defined as a remote login at the server."

This server is at a separate company from me and my only access to it is for my to register it in my Enterprise Manager via its IP address...
Is it possible to configure a remote SQL Server 2000 for replication via having it registered by its IP address in my Enterprise Manager OR do I need to physically remote in to that server and use it's Enterprise Manager to configure replication?
I need to set it up as a Publisher/Distributor.
