I am putting together a catering menu brochure. I am trying to find a good font that will be easy to read. Right now I have Helvetica at 10pt because I have to fit so many items (I would like the font to be at least 12 but I don't see that happening.) I have heard that Helvetica is overused...
I am new to Quark and need to design a 9x12 Tri-fold Brochure. I have seen free templates on the web, but they have all been for 8.5 x 11. Can anyone tell me where I can find this template or how I can set one up? Thank you very much.
Thanks to both of you for this information. JM Galvin, I am kind of confused though because I know you said that PS has the 354C color in the Pantone Solid Library. But when I go to the Pantone Solid Coated and type in 354, the color comes up, but there is a little triangle with an exclamation...
I have always been lucky in being able to choose my own colors for my creative, but now I have to design a menu using the client's 354 pms color which I don't have a lot of experience with. I turned my menu into grayscale, then I did the duotone and applied the 354 pms color. I have two...
Jimoblak,
Yes, it is true that I don't know a whole lot about production. I have a full-time job (not graphic related)and have been teaching myself new programs in my spare time (new as in Quark and Illustrator, I'm pretty comfortable in Photoshop.) I don't however, think it is a problem...
Thanks for the feedback.
I am BRAND new to Quark. Could you possibly give me suggestions on colorizing the grayscale tiffs?
Signal 49, I'm not sure what you mean when you say to "print out separations on your own printer to make sure you don't have any extra plates." Not sure what the...
Can anyone give me some feedback on what they charge for projects such as brochures? Business cards? Posters? I have it set up with my client to charge them by the hour. Sometimes I put longer hours into the project than I should (and don't charge for the extra time), just because I want it...
I have been asked to create a brochure with 2/1 pms color and one black. I have only used full color processing in the past and want to make sure I get this right. Does this mean 2 spot colors on the front and just black on the back? I will be doing this in Quark....
My client also asked if I...
I have a logo that was created in Illustrator that I need to import into a photoshop document. When I open the logo in Photoshop, it is very blurry. Do I need to save the logo in a different format in Illustrator in order to use it in my Photoshop document?
Thanks.
Thanks for the web site, Pixelchik, I will check that out tonight. Hopefully that will clear it up for me, because I don't want to take any more of your time! Thanks again for all of your help, I really do appreciate it.
Pixelchik,
Is the EPS way just as good as the Distiller way? If not, can you give me more information to distill a PDF? I have Adobe Acrobat.... I'm just not sure the steps I take to save it that way.....
thanks for your quick response by the way!
I really appreciate the information you guys have provided me. This forum is wonderful. One more question for you.... I need to be able to e-mail my brochure to my client so he can proof it. And I understand saving a Quark file is no picnic compared to saving it in Photoshop. I have done...
Thanks for the information you guys, I really appreciate it. I have one more question... I downloaded a free Quark template for the brochure that I need, same dimensions, etc. I am confused on how to do the full bleed.... What I mean is I know in Photshop you make the document larger then it...
Hi Pixelchik,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, the brochure is a 2-sided brochure. Since I posted my original message, I have been experimenting with Quark because like you said, that is really the way to go with this project. I know we are in a Photoshop forum, but maybe you can anwer a quick...
Hi tviman,
Thanks for your information. What I really need to know about setting up the brochure in Photoshop is how do I set the columns and gutter width? Also, if I want a full bleed, don't I have to make the document a larger size as most printers add a 1/4 white border?
Thanks!
