We've had the same problem off and on for a couple years now. It won't work, then by magic it will work on only one workstation, then it will stop again for no reason. We currently can't use it all. ArcServe is the worst backup product I have ever used. Brightstor is no better. It's all CA...
Has anyone ever experienced the URL for a team room not being accurate? The icon works fine but the URL doesn't contain the correct path to the database document. We are using 5.0.10 on the server. I've checked the server document and the hostname is fine. Any ideas?
Apparently this is a bug that goes back to NT 3.1 but Microsoft has neglected to fix it.

I'm not sure if turning off the automatic adjustment for daylight savings would fix this.
TheLad: I appreciate your willingness to help but I am already up to my eyeballs trying to troubleshoot this with Computer Associates. Really what I was after was an idea of the best backup software for Novell and if anything can go cross platform without too many issues.
Our issues are as follows:
1. When we try to backup one of our Windows 2000 servers from our Novell 5.1 server we get broken connections during the compare which means the compare doesn't run on those sessions. This job runs seperately from the job that runs our Novell server backups.
2. We...
We are currently running ArcServe 7 on a Novell 5.1. We run one backup job that backs up 4 Novell 5.1 servers including the one running ArcServe and another job that backs up a Windows 2000 server which runs our Lotus Domino server (we have another Windows 2000 server we would like to backup...
We are currently using Novell 5.1 SP4 on a Dell Poweredge 2550 in a strictly IP environment. We our users are on the road they dial in to our network through a Shiva Lanrover /E Plus. The users are authenticated usings TACACS and their Novell username and password. Once connected through...
We have had nothing but trouble using ArcServe 7 with Novell 501 SP4. There is a winsock update and a tcpip update that you could try. There is also an NDS 8 update. I don't know if any of those will help you or not but it's worth a try.
We are currently using ArcServe 7 and have had endless troubles with it. At this point we are seriously considering switching to Backup Exec. We use to run it on our Lotus Server before we did this big network conversion. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has tried Backup Exec 9 on a mixed...
OK. I have tried adding entries to both the hosts file on the workstation and the hosts file on the server. I have also tried the LMHosts.sam but to no avail. I am not trying to connect via a router so ports shouldn't be an issue. However, I have tried changing the ports that arcserve uses...
Unfortunately connecting via IPX is not an option at this point. We are running a purely IP environment. I am trying to run the manager on a Windows 2000 service pack 2. We have the 4.81 client installed. I have updated all of our Novell server with the recent Winsock patch from Novell. I...
I am having this exact problem. I can ping the server and it can ping me. We have only been able to get the manager to install properly on my bosses computer. I have tried 3 different computers and have had no luck. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
We are trying to install ARCserve 7 on a Netware 5.1 box from a Windows 2000 laptop. We installed it once before on an NSS partition and it wouldn't run properly so we removed it. Now when we try to install it again we are getting an error that says we have to be running a Netware client for...
We are running mixed network here. Our main servers are running Novell 4.11 and our email is running NT 4.0. We have a DHCP server that also runs NT 4.0 and an SAP connection that connects to a server in another facility. We run on Cisco Fasthubs and have 2 Cisco Switches, a Cisco Router and...
We tried to install the client on two laptops running ME. One installed fine but one wouldn't see the tree. We ended up installing 95 on the problem laptop, installing the client, and then upgrading to ME. This seemed to work fine. It's a messy solution and I'm not sure it would again if I...
We tried using the client provided with Windows to set up these workstations but we are not getting a logon screen when we reboot. We checked the frame type and it is set to auto just like the old workstations were.
We are trying to upgrade a law firm that is running Novell 3.12, using an Ethernet network, and was running 486 workstations using Windows 95. We upgraded the workstations to 1GHz, 128MB of RAM, running Windows 98SE. The problem is that we can't get the new machines to log into the server. We...
If you are using the Novell client there should be a red N in your quicklaunch toolbar. If you right-click on the red N, select Novell Capture Printer Port, at the pop-up window select which port to capture, enter the network path (I usually browse for it), make sure that the box is checked...
