    Port Mirroring problem- Help

When sniffing a network using sniffer pro (laptop edition) you will always lose your connection to the network unless you have 2 network cards in the laptop. Using Sniffer distributed allows you to remain connected to the network. This is because it has 2 network cards, 1 setup as a dedicated...

    Desperate help needed

Thanks John, It turned out to be a dodgy switch trying to become the base switch. Unfortunately release 4 of the firmware took down the whole stack when this happened. After back-revving to 3.1 the redundant feature worked and only the affected switch failed. We replaced the switch with a new...

    Desperate help needed

Installed a five switch stack using 450s on the weekend. All appeared ok. This morning the stack has dropped out twice with the base lights flashing on the switches. It has the latest firmware on. Any ideas ? Its a live environment with 80 servers in the stack !!!

    Baystack 450 issue (quite techy)

I have a 2 Stacks of 4 450 24p switches numbered 1-4 with the base unit being 1. They are cascaded using MDA modules to produce a redundant cascade. The base unit has a 1000LR fibre port with both a live fibre link to another computer room and a diverse fibre in the failover port. My problem...

If the switches are in the same cabinet use an MDA cable. Daisy chaining switches using UTP should be avoided if possible. The difference in speed should be enough to swing it. 2.6gbps compared to 100mbps.

Protocols listed in Matrix traffic map

Select tools, options and click the protocols tab. Scroll down and you can add protocol name and ports numbers from there. You will need to close sniffer and reopen for them to take effect. A comprehensive list of IP port numbers found at the following site...

    install question

I had a similar problem with version 4.5 on NT4. It happens when I filtered the capture and then tried to close the capture when in the decode screen. Its a known fault with sniffer thanks to Spence. To kill of the process use "kill -f PIDno" from the NT resource kit. It usually but...

    WINS no response in expert

Hi, When running a capture i seem to get an inordinate amount of "WINS No Response" reported in the expert. I know the WINS servers are functioning correctly. Also in the object field it always appears as 11.21.13.125 11.21.255.255. Im guessing that its broadcast traffic that can be...
