Hi,
we are using 11d to backup our exchange server, we have an exchange agent. The question I have, is it normal that the stm and edb files don't show up as backed up on the tapes. They are greyed out in the selection list but have a line through them like they are selected.
Problem is that I...
Hi,
we have a problem where users can't change the view of the explorer window when attaching files in Outlook 2003. If they change to details or list etc it still shows as icon view. If we change the e-mail editor to Word 2003 then the problem goes away but I don't really view this is a fix...
I have a server that used to be a backup server and still has 9.1 Backup Exec on it and now also has a remote agent on it so it can be backed up by another 9.1 Backup Exec server and it works ok.
I'd assume its the difference in versions that it isn't happy about so I'd say you have to...
As for using Enterprise manager to backup SQL first I'd say you are duplicating a task. If you have a Veritas SQL Agent licence then veritas will take care of the SQL side of things itself.
I'm not entirely sure I understand what you are trying to achieve. Do you mean it is backing up one different database every day until 15 databases are backed up or are you backing it all up every day for 15 days?
I'm not all that used to backing up to disk as apposed to using tapes but either...
That sarcastic? You don't like my answer?
Basically its very easy to see what tapes are in an autoloader... run an inventory against the library. I don't get it?
Ok, think this may have been related to the old inventory job we had setup to run on all of the slots that were now partitioned.
I've taken the schedule out but I'm wondering if now that I have partitions in place do I even need an inventory to run before the backups take place, the jobs will...
You should be able to see which tape has what data on yes. You can label the tapes in Veritas to make this easier but simply going to the Media tab and looking at the time stamp should be an initial indication.
The backup log should also tell you which specific media was used.
There are a whole...
Hi,
since creating partitions on my robotic library I have noticed that the majority of my tapes are now listed as being online for media location. Anyone know of any reason for this? Do I need to reconfigure how Veritas is looking for the location of tapes?
thanks,
Chris
Have to assume the tape unit shows up as ok in device manager as you can write to them ok but just without compression. Seems like all the basic bits are enabled that should allow compression aswell.
Only thing I can think of is changing the compression to hardware therwise none and run the...
In Veritas - Devices on the properties of the device and then the configuration tab you have compressiosn enabled right?
Would look at the drivers you are using for the device after that. Veritas or Dell?
Think the tape compression it shows is just a report of what it compressed. In the job setup general tab what sort of compression are you using? Hardware/ software etc?
OK. I don't think you can schedule that in without manually entering the dates.
I've never heard of anyone wanting to do it that way either, normally an end of month backup is a bigger deal and you set it aside to run over a weekend and around your other backups. If it isn't a big deal then...
This happening on all tapes? What error does it give? No available media?
Simple one first, you have put the tape you erased and then did an overright job to back in the correct media set? If the job is only set to append and the tape isn't in the right media set it still won't use it.
