I've experienced the same thing, on nearly all windows 2003 servers I've installed. Even on fresh installs with nothing configured. Different hardware or subnets doesn't seem to matter, I've seen it happen in both vmware installation and in real environment.

I also suspect that could be the case. He just emailed me saying he managed to get it somewhat working. He now get a IP adress after a lot of tries, and once he does he get 50% loss when pinging. Thanks for the quick answer!
