    Veritas Backup to Disk

Felixx, What about having a viable offsite alternative to restore from in the case of a natural disaster, human error or theft? Unexpected and unavoidable circumstances always do arise. I dont think I would be putting all of my eggs in one basket. We also run backups to disk daily and...

    iSCSI Transfer Speed Question

Not to my knowledge, no. Basically my servers connect from their 1gbps nic's using cat6 to 1gbps switches which then connects to the SAN using cat6. In essence everything should be running at 1gbps. I am not sure if somehow something is throttling the speed back but my network conneciton in...

Losing Dynamic Disks on Reboot of Servers

Hello all, We have a couple PowerEdge 1950's and 2950’s running Windows 2003 R2 with all patches connected to an EMC AX150i iSCSI SAN using PowerPath 4.5. Using .bat or .vbs to run multiple .vbs scripts?

Performance Increase on RAID-5 With Addition of Hard Drives

Its my understanding that the performance of a RAID5 array will increase as the amount of disks are added to the array - but only to a certain point. Is anyone able to shed a little light as to roughly how many disks can be added to a RAID5 array before the performance starts to degrade? Also...

    Backup To Disk file size

Thanks Steve, Makes perfect sense, that is what I was thinking as well but I wanted to ask as I have little experience with backup to disk with this product and was not totally sure. Is there a best practice? 10gb sounds like a reasonably easy to manage file size with reduced risk without...

    Backup To Disk file size

Can anyone tell me why Veritas defaults to creating 1GB files when you choose to use backup to disk? I have set this for 50gb files (since we are backing up about 3tb) and 1gb files leads to hundreds being created in our backup directory. Is there anything wrong with increasing the file size? I...
