I have the answer. At last. When you install Netscape, choose the custom install. Then refuse the mail selection in the custom install. When you do this, Netscape uses windows default mailer. It is as simple as that. Thanks for your help.

I've tried a million different variations without success. Would definitely be interested to hear if anyone has accomplished this objective with Netscape7 and GW6, so I can decide whether to keep at this.

Ok. I'm sure that somebody else knows better than I. But I futzed around with calling ole from dll's for a time and decided that it was generally a mistake. I use executables for ole. And I have seen a number of suggestions from others to the same effect.
