    Thanks for your input. In frustration I closed the DOS box and lo and behold the fix finished and I was conected again.

    Deleting the WINSOCK2 folder in the registry and rebooting the machine works to resolve the DNS error also

    Don't know what password on TCP/IP network?

    I have run into this before and have found that occasionally if I go into the drive on the 2000 box and share the individual file, the password box doesn't open up.

    I'm having the same prob with an XP home box. I have tried using the WINSOCKFIX util but up until now it hangs at "releasing IP" Any other thoughts Thanks
