Sorry to rehash this.
I now have one copy of Ghost for testing, I am about to create a boot disk that maps to a network drive. I plan to run ghost.exe from here and create an image on my server, then I plan to use the same disk to connect to the server from other stations and use ghost.exe to...
I am trying to add Office SP3 to an admin install share and it keeps failing, I have used the following path
msiexec /a D:\MSI\Office2k\data1.msi /p C:\O2ksp3a\MSP File SHORTFILENAMES=1
I have done this before in the past and it worked so i'm not sure why it's not working now.
The error reads...
Do you have a forwarder addreses configured in your Windows server DNS, this will make the server query your ISP for any IP's that it doesn't know about.
Ok so e.g Sendmail or SUSE will query AD and fetch all user account details using LDAP or is that upto Outlook to send the correct details to the email server?
Thanks.
Like i said "but the open source chaps would lead you to beleive that it is."
I have only used it in a small environment but i know certain ISP's use it so i assumed with some skills it could be turned into a reliable product.
I should of been more clear.
I occasionally use scripting in AD mainly for bulk reseting of passwords tho.
I have noe moved my groups into other containers as it does make them easier to find.
Thanks.
Hi, can anyone suggest a Linux email solution (Open Exchange?) that will allow me to extract user and password information from Active Directory and keep this synchronised so the users don’t need more than one password as that would be far to much to ask of them.
Thanks.
Yes thanks i have created seperate OU's and placed all of my users in them according to their location and needs.
Thanks for the input it's nice to find out how other people do things.
I tried loads of different drivers from my mobo manufacturer to ALI with no joy. I can't remember the make of the card i got but no drivers are required as they are built into Windows.
I have a AMD K2 500Mhz with ALi PCI to USB Host Controller and i too moved from 98 to 2000 and i never got it working.
In the end i bought a PCI to USB card and it's worked fine since.
markdmac do you recommend leaving all users in the default users container then putting them in groups then putting the groups into OU's as opposed to moving users into OU's as you create them?
I was under the impression that users were put into OU's and not groups, so i move mine out of the...
As far as i'm aware IIS6 is radically different from the troublesome IIS5, a completely different product i beleive.
But if you fancy avoiding it anyway Apache is a decent web server and free.

I have only used it in a limited environment...
I have been organising our users and compuers into OU's in Active Directory, i have also have quite a few groups that currently reside in the defult users container along with the built in groups is it a good idea to move them out of there just for ease of locating them or are they best left in...
Yes our users save their work to a mapped drive as well. But we have 2 servers with 100gb tape drives and 2 without any tape, at the moment we use the Veritas remote agent and this backs up the remote server and sends the files to a server with a tape drive on to be backed up. Great piece of...
As we are about to make a big move from Nt4 to 2003 we are also considering other backup and anti virus options.
We currently have 6 servers and 300 client PC's and use Symantec corporate edition anti virus and Veritas backup for the obvious.
Anyone have experience with alternatives eg Sophos...
We have roaming users, so i'm using roaming profiles.
I have used a .pol instead of a .man profile and the changes are applying fine now as the users can modify their profile.
Thanks for your input tho.
