If you have backup kernel file then no problem.
Boot system with this backup kernel file and
try to reinstall or uninstall the packages that gives the problem.
Please take a backup of kernel , before doing any activity that going modify your kernel datastructure.

In the PDC Prompt , under the configuration menu , i can find one variable called bootid . Actually what it is and purpose of this . The "HELP" facility in the PDC prompt doesn't give any details.
