My opinion as to why Q won't back save to 4 has to do with possible font conflicts stemming from OSX. Back- saving to Q4 OS9 with a document using an OSX system font can create major headaches. People would think it was a Q problem when it is actually a font issue.
I have had no problem saving...
from what I have been told...
The problem are fonts that have been around since OS8. These fonts got damaged because of a system 8 error. OS9 didn't react to the damaged font whereas OSX - Suitcase does. The problem is all the bootleg fonts that everybody has been copying and trading are...
Pyritz,
We have since upgraded to the latest version of Panther (10.3.3?) and Quark 6.1 and this has solved the problem completely. I think these are both free upgrades from the web.
Font problems are still a nightmare though.
3hands,
you should spend more time working and less trying to figure out computer issues.
As for the fonts we all know it is going to get worse better better.
Fly like an Eagle! ;)
What programs are you printing from? I have found that I cannot print custom page sizes from Quark 6.0 since upgrading to Panther but am able to print from the default page sizes, letter, tabloid etc.
In distiller at the top you can check under "settings" "Job options" under the tab "color" there are some options to how the job will be saved.
hope this helps
sounds like the pdf is being created to rgb. check the settings in distiller to see if you can save it as cmyk. That should keep the file true to its original format.
One way to keep the accents etc. is to copy and paste the text from Word to Quark on a PC (if you can access it... the local printer should have both) Then open the file on the mac. Style sheets in Quark can save alot of time if set up properly.
Hi Laura,
When doing a save as make sure the "version:" 5.0 and is a "type:" is document. To do this highlight the version as 5.0 twice.
We have recently upgraded to Quark 6 and Panther. Ever since we made the switch we cannot print custom page sizes to our platemaker or Epson 7600. Anyone else have this problem or any suggestions?
Thanks
