I have been using Sidekick99 for years and, luckily, have managed to get it working on a variety of operating systems- the latest was Windows 7 where I installed Windows Virtual PC and and had it running in virtualized Windows XP Mode.
I now have Windows 8.1 and it appears Windows XP mode is...
Jim,
Just for the sake of closure , I finally got SK99 working by downloading virtual pc and windows xp mode. After that, everything worked fine.
Many thanks for your support in all this.
What are you doing that I'm doing wrong- I have Windows 7 Professional, I am following James's instructions, going through the compatibility process but nothing happens. I'm wondering if it is a security issue, blocking the installation?
OK tried it in Safe Mode but nothing. My old XP machine was XP service pack 3. but there's just no reaction when I go through the motions of compatibility on this machine- just the same message I mentioned before. Meanwhile on the office XP machine where I loaded SK99, SK is running happily. I'm...
Jim,
I followed your instructions and that of the Microsoft web-site, I right clicked and went through all the various previous versions of windows and each time when I went to click on the program, the same message each time -"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of...
Let me clarify the last sentence- when I put the flash drive in the Windows 7 machine the I thought I would be able to run Sidekick (off-machine) succesfully, as I had done earlier today on the XP machine - however I get the message concerning TIMESYNC.dll.
Jim,
I found I had the program, I loaded it onto the office PC which is Windows XP and everything was fine. I even loaded it on the flash drive and that was fine. Brought nit to the new PC which has Windows7 and I get the message "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of...
Jim,
Carbonite is a back up service -off-site. I can get into my "crashed computer" in safe mode and start up sidekick, I can also start up sidekick from the thumbdrive I copied it onto from that damaged computer- when trying to start up the program from the thumbdrive on the new computer...
I recently had to go to Windows 7; trying to install SK99 from my Carbonite back up- I keep getting the message "The Program can't start because TIMESYNC.dll is missing from your computer"- what do I need to do now?
To James33, tried, but no success! Not sure what to do next.CPSMEVEN.skw is there in the Userdata directory. I have opened other caloendars that I had created in the past and there is no problem seeing birthdays, holidays etc. It's just in this calendat I'm using -CPSM which is my main calendar.
I have Sidekick 99 - today my events disappeared- such as Memorial Day, Father;s Day, all the birthdays I had noted etc.
Tried reinstalling Userdata but no luck- I see a file CPSMEVEN- CPSM being the name of the calendar file, it has 68K in it but whjy is it not being captured when I fire it...
When I try to add a recurring event, I am getting a message "Insufficient memory to complete this action!"Then a window comes up allowing me enter the event. When I go back to to the recurring event menu I cannot see prior recurring event nor the one that I just entered. And then another...
I'm not sure if this is the right way to do this but I saw the heading and I am having a problem with "Cannot find the file \cityinfo.dat" . I have looked in FAQ's but am getting a problem there reading other related FAQ's. I have SK99 loaded and this suddenyl happened today!!!Out of the blue...
Not sure if this is the right thread- however, when trying to extract SK99 from its zipped state to load onto a new IBM Thinkpad, I keep getting the message " This installation has detected that a previous installation or un-installation requires you to restart your computer"...
John,
I'm in the same predicament- where did you find software that somehow gave you a hint of the original password??
Also would be interested to know about sftware that can actually break the password.
I know your reply was written 3 years ago! However, we have a similar problem now using Lotus Smart Suite 9.6 and using "file combine" doesn't seem to work so perhaps they fixed the "bug" you mentioned. However, is there any other way to get the password protected file back???
