    kjonnnn I tried that already with the same results. I will try msconfig and turn off all start programs. I thought that safe mode would do that but I am going to try msconfig. and paulovey no network involved on this one but I did not see if anit virus was running.

    I would recommend using a 98 boot disk which should allow you to boot with or with out cd rom drivers. that would be the easiest IMO.

    I have a 98Se workstaiton that is locking up at 10% while defraging. It will start and run normally but then it hits 10% and the drive light stays lit and the whole pc locks up.
