If you cannot see the PST files on the computer then you need to change file attributes to show all files.
tools folder options and veiw to all, you will then see all PST files and will be able to use *.PST including OST

It is possible to have a pst available off line by using gpedit.msc on the command line.
This also works for access databases.
if you search microsoft they actually have a page that shows you what needs to be done.

I am presently doing what you are suggesting
We are using exchange 2000 this is where all e-mails are kept.
I can therefore connect in 6 ways
1. on the internal nework ethernet
2. Mobil using GPRS (with VPN) Nokia 6300
3. Mobil DUN connecting direct (telephone line) with Nokia 6300
4. Modem...
Have come accross this problem and it is probably to do with permissions, useaccess rights.
If you change a password while the user is logged in then the same box will appear because the user has not authenticated with the correct to minute password..
It may be another area you could look at.
