Thanks for the replies.
The 2 servers are identical in builds and function.
TheLad, There was no problem on the 1st server having a different gateway on each NIC.
I should have checked this before, but I think I found the problem: RRAS
When confirming Windows firewall was not on by mistake...
Having the following issue:
Attempting to connect nics on a dell 1950 to seperate vlans.
Current: 1st NIC is statically assigned 192.168.10.x /24 address, gateway is on same range. Connected to vlan1
(disabled)2nd Nic statically assigned address in 192.168.0.x /24
gateway is on same range...
Thanks, will give some of the suggestions a try.
I just find it very puzzling, but I'm sure when there is a resolution something will make sense then.
Will reply to this after giving it another few tries.
Have attempted the above with no luck and also downloaded all the listed drivers from gateway site.
Technically the model is also an MX3210
-have searched google with countless search strings, coming up with nothing that is helping.
-the only thing I can say is already stated above. I do recall...
Thanks!
The O/S installs with XP sp2 (should have said that earlier.)
It has been updated.
I will try the 2nd link registry edit. Will post results after trying.
-refurbished gateway W323-Ul1 about 3 years ago. It came with nothing but a charger.
-reinstalled xp pro for the owner 2.5 yrs ago
-when doing so had an issue with the usb ports functioning.
-had all the 'correct' drivers from gateway site, but usb still would not work.
-XP did recognize the...
Was wondering if anyone knows of any tools in which you can hover the mouse over a switch port in a diagram (ie; Visio) and info on the device connected to that switch port will display.
-I am fine with adding the info manually, but interested in a tool that would provide this quick reference...
If this is posted in wrong forum can admin move to correct one please?
Problem with a iPaq H3955 and a cisco aironet 350 wireless card.
It started with trying to use 'airmagnet' software with the associated card. Some issues were encountered and after reading some tech info on the airmagnet...
Alright, I've mentioned this before and so far I can eventually get the thing to load but I have no clue as to why this happens:
About every two weeks, XP fails to boot up. I'll get the 'hal.dll missing or corrupt' error.
On sat morning I got a new one. 'Cannot load needed dll'
So, I do what...
damn, that's not the news you want at all!
Did u ask them to try sticking xp on the machine, at least just to see how far they get?
What about getting another copy of the xp cd and trying that? (can't remember if you have already done that)
from the sounds of it, then it must be a setting in...
any word whether it was the main board yet? I don't think it could be the CPU, especially since you can run win98 on there.
Hopefully it was just the mainboard and the problem is now solved.
Let us know!
ROFL
good to see some humour of of this. I suppose it is possible that it could be the RAM, especially since you've tried just about everything else.
Please let us know....and again,
good luck.
maybe this is an appropriate solution at this time:
Install Linux?
You could just emulate xp programs within linux?
I think it's one of those, getting really sick of MS days, with all their patches, and hot fixes..blah blah blah.
Sorry this doesn't help, but I feel frustrated for you.
Any...
not sure if this might help. I suppose it depends on what type of dsl modem you are using.

I suppose it could be somewhat of a similar problem.
Good luck!
I know that it is up to the isp to configure how long an ip is to be leased for, just trying to say that it is more than likely not a problem with that seeing as he stated it happens a few times a day. All I meant by powering down was that it was shutting off.
Come to think of it, I have had...
Been getting this information log for the last week on a Compaq Proliant DL580:
Physical Drive removed: SCSI Port3, ID8 of Array Controller in slot 4
wondering what the possible cause of this might be. the drive seems to be functioning fine, no failure lights. The drive certainly wasn't removed...
I wouldn't think that it would be powering down because it can't renew it's ip. Not a couple times a day anwyays.
Most ISP's lease an ip for quite a long period of time.
alright, was doing a bit of surfing and stumbled across this. Hopefully you haven't read it:

Same boards, same types of issues. It seems that all their problems stem from the motherboards bios. They suggest that a 3rd party bios be flashed...
