I am sure some-one advised to add a "no fixup protocol smtp 25" statement to get it to work with Exchange 2003. Unfortunately I cannot really explain why...

Hi Guys
Thanks for ths posts.
I like the ISA 2004 server, it certainly make me feel secure!! If I had to lose one item it'd be the PIX, but many advise to keep both, so I think I will.
Thanks for your input. I still think it a rum do if one access list 'works', but if I add the tcp and smtp...
Hi Chris
I think you guess correct. However cannot downgrade ISA to one NIC, as I am told it is alsmot pointless having it if I do.
Given it works, I'll keep playing with the config. The updated static command above certainly looks correct to me (but I am a hopeless newbie)
Thanks for your...
Hi
I posted a similar on another newsgroup and got this reply:
"please excuse me for not fully understanding the requirement.
anyhow, the static statement you are after should be:
static (inside,outside) tcp x.x.x.x smtp y.y.y.y smtp netmask 255.255.255.255
with this static statement, of i...
Hi
Most recommendations I have had are to run a hardware firewall in front of ISA. I have been doing this for a while now, but since a change of ADSL line (to allow for reverse DNS) I have had an issue or two.
Exchange runs on a W2003 box within the LAN. I understand MS now recommends having...
Hi Chris
Cannot post config until tomorrow.
LAN -> ISA Server -> PIX -> Internet
To explain, everything on the LAN comes out throught the ISA edge firewall thingy. Hence all traffic coming into the PIX is from one IP address. My current config is definitely not correct - as using the static...
Hi
Can anyone help me on this please, I have a severe lack of understanding!!!
To enable Email I have set up a static command in our PIX firewall, that specifies a global address for the local host.
My problem is that as we have an ISA server, all internal host are reported as having the IP...
Hi
OK - if I add:
access-list outside-in permit tcp any host x.x.x.62 eq 1723
access-list outside-in permit gre any host x.x.x.62
fixup protocol pptp 1723
static (inside,outside) x.x.x.612 172.16.0.4 netmask 255.255.255.255 0 0
It all seems to work. Basically I bundled the VPN onto the same...
Hi All
I was trying to set up a VPN (which worked) but in the process knocked out my email via a PIX 506e.
I have lines for email as follows:
access-list acl permit tcp any host 1.2.3.4 eq smtp
access group acl in interface outside
static (inside,outside) 1.2.3.4 10.0.0.1 netmask...
Hi
I have a PIX 506e and I am trying to enable a VPN via IA2004. It works if my access lists are:
access-list vpn01 permit tcp any host x.x.x.x eq 1723
access-list vpn01 permit tcp any host x.x.x.x eq 47
access-list vpn01 permit tcp any host x.x.x.x
Now if I remove the last line it fails...
HI
Thanks - Exchange 2003 - as you say!!
I found I did not have my IMAP server on. Once on it seems OK.
Thanks
Lewej
P.S. Cannot connect to server. I'll think I'll raise a new post.
Hi
I am trying to get an iMac G5 with Tiger OS to connect to our Exchange server 2004 and our DC and file server which is Win 2003 (they are all patched up.)
I can send email, but cannot recieve.
I have tried to set up the AD bit too.
I cannot connect to the server either, whether smb or via IP...
Hi Guys
Thanks for the response.
I always recreate a new session in hyprerterminal, so nice idea but does not help here.
I have tried both Com1 and Com2, I have a spare cable and connector thingy and neither work on the server; but both work on a laptop. Device manager looks fine.
I am very...
Erm....sorry a bit unclear.
I can no longer access the PIX from my SBS 2000 SERVER.
This is less than conveneient ot have to get a laptop, drag it into the comms room and use that to connect.
TIA
