Not sure about this, but it might be worth a try. Lower the refresh rate on the monitor e.g. from 85 or 80 to 60. then try increasing the resolution. Make sure you only use a refresh rate that IS SUPPORTED by your monitor, but stepping down generally doesn't damaged it.

That option is disabled. i can only select (Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby). I experimented with standby mode (disabled it one piece of hardware at a time), now only the monitor powers down, but still the problem persists.
