I downloaded the 5 zip files from Oracle that are specified as OEM (2.04) for Solaris 8 (IA), but after extracting them to a staging directory, I tried to run the "runInstaller.sh" and immediately received an error (missing '(' in line 1). Does anyone have any insight on my problem...
I did a full install of 8.1.6 on Solaris IA, and can't seem to find an executable in the bin directory to launch OEM. I can launch an "elogin" that seems close but not quite. Can someone please tell me which executable launches OEM?
Thanks
When I downloaded the patches from Sun, I unzipped them as such: "unzip 108899-01.zip" and it created a directory by the same name (minus .zip), so the directories I was interested in deleting were those created by unzipping the zip files. I'm not even sure if these are...
I remember reading something about the backup of patches that are installed. Is this backup have something to do with the directory created when unzipping the patch? Should I keep those directories? Thanks

I'm a beginner of beginners, and this tip was something I thought needed to be shared (most likely for beginners as well). To be honest, I'm only running Solaris because someone gave me the CDs, and I want to learn UNIX. What flavor really wasn't an issue at the time (2...

Oracle documentation specifies just over 1 gig for installation. The kicker is the installation program reports only 171 meg free on my "/" slice though. Someone did mention a potential bug with the install program and disks over 2 gig?! Anyone else heard of this?
To install oracle I did a "mkdir" from the root directory and created /u01, /u02, one for the software, one for the database. So far as I can tell, those u0x directories are on a 4.3 gig slice since I created them under the root directory. But the oracle universal installer (at the...
Thanks for the response! No messages in any log files I could find. (No 'syslog' dir in /adm?! Should there be one?) Looked at all logs I could find, but none said "low space".
Let me clarify if I can:
I have a 6 Gig HD, all for solaris. When installing Solaris I created three...
I've installed Solaris 8 IA on a PII350 w/ 6Gb HD; with minimal slices: / = 5.2 gb, /export = .5gb & swap = .4gb.
I've created a directory on the / slice called /u02 to hold oracle database files (/u01 to hold oracle program), and the oracle install program is telling me I've got insufficient...
