Yes, I am fully aware of how Google works. Funnily enough, I searched on Google before asking for help on here.
However, every answer I found either suggested that it was a network wide problem (not so in this case) or that it needed the Exchange tools from the installation media. When I asked...
Please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong forum, but as I am in the dark as to the what is causing the problem, I don't know exactly where the fault will lie!
Using the Active Directory Users & Computers tools on my PC, I cannot see any Exchange related tabs for any users. We have...
Thanks for all the help. The m/board only has 2 slots (the software I used to get the hardware info reported it wrong).
I shall head off to Ebay for some bargain hunting.
Sorry, forgot to post that info.
The PC is an HP d230 MT(DQ450T)M/board is a Lite-On Tech, model: 0884h. I cannot find anything on their website about m/boards though.

Well, that was weird! Just out of curiousity, I powered the PC up and lo and behold - it booted perfectly. As though nothing had ever been wrong.
Updated my AV/spyware & Windows, usual round of re-boots and everything is still fine.
Absolutely bizarre. I can't find a reason for it.
Thanks to...
Can't get into the BIOS, it trips after 5 secs regardless. Also, wit the type of BIOS on this m/board, you boot off a Win98 floppy, then at the command prompt run the BIOS update. As I can't boot off anything, I can't run the update.
Don't think I can lay my hands on a spare PSU, so I'll just...
Ok. I took the box apart last night, cleaned everything (it WAS a bit dusty in there), reseated everything. Had a good long look at the capacitators, couldn't spot anything untoward with them.
I'm now at a complete loss. I think I've reached the stage where a purchase on Ebay is necessary.
The heatsink is fully in place, the fan spins up as soon as the PC boots.
I thought of the CPU overheating, but it does it after the PC has been powered down for a couple of days - I can't see the CPU overheating after just 5 secs of use from cold.
As for the power supply, check it how -...
The PC in question is an old AMD 1000, served me well for a good few years now. Boot up the PC, and after 5 seconds, just as it gets to the 'Detecting IDE Drives' bit, the display shuts off and you get the 'Entering Power Saver Mode' message on the blank screen.
I've put a different graphics...
Thanks for the reply.
That is what I tried first of all - I tried changing the settings to have it open Explorer by default, then back to Prompting for action, but none of them seemed to work, it seems as if there is an over-riding setting that applies to all USB devices somewhere that I cannot...
I have a user with a Siemens P series Lifebook. When ever a USB device is plugged in (we've tried a Kingston Data Traveller memory stick, a Pentax digital camera & an iPod), although the drive is recognised in My Computer, we do not get the autorun box (the one that asks what software do we want...
Unfortunately, we never did resolve this issue.
The PC was one of four PC's in an office in the factory where I work. One of the girls in the office was due to leave and wasn't replaced.
So, her working PC was used to replace the one with the problem and the PC with the problem was taken back...
Downgraded IE 6 to IE5. Still failed to resolve the issue. Upgraded to IE6 again, still no resolution.
Ran the fix from this website:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm
Again, this did not resolve the issue.
Spyware scans have been run, but I re-ran them (Ad-Aware, Pest Patrol). Fully updated...
When clicking on a link in IE that is supposed to open in a new window, or right clicking on a link and choosing Open In New Window or holding the Shift key down when clicking on a link, nothing is happening.
I've looked on the net and found a couple of MS Knowledge Base articles - this one...
Hi there.
I was wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of a web page, or some online resource that will help me identify the procesor type and speed, from the Family x Model x Stepping x designation?
There used to a page on the Knowledge base on microsoft.com, but they seem to have...
Having been in exactly the same boat myself today, a colleague found this:
ftp://ftp.lotus.com/pub/lotusweb/product/smartsuite/kvlot32.exe
And downloaded it. Allows .123 files to be viewed, printed and in our case, C&P'ed into an Excel spreadsheet.
